No need for an iron! Why don't Americans iron things and walk around with wrinkles?

For many people, ironing things after washing is a very unloved activity. Perhaps most of us would rather wash a mountain of dishes or the floor several times than iron a stack of washed laundry. Yes, the process is tedious, monotonous and very boring, because in other household chores there is at least some kind of dynamics.

But in America, ironing things (as a mandatory activity) has long been consigned to the past. No, no, sometimes on the streets you can meet a citizen in a perfectly ironed shirt or trousers, but this is, rather, a person who has a certain status, and therefore he is simply not supposed to walk around “crumpled”. Although most of the common population have an iron and a board at home, they are in no hurry to iron things.

What kind of weird thing is this - not ironing things after washing?

In fact, there is no strangeness. Americans are more relaxed about how they dress. Ordinary citizens hardly wear trousers and shirts, which need to be constantly ironed. Sweatpants, jeans, a T-shirt, a T-shirt, a sweater - convenient, comfortable, and does not require much time to care for these clothes.

Even if you, being in the USA, go out into the street “rumpled”, no one will judge or criticize you - no one will notice it at all. Therefore, Russians in America can be distinguished even in a large crowd. Their clothes are always perfectly washed and ironed.

Why are Americans so indifferent to their appearance? In fact, US residents value their time and comfort very much. Even if the clothes are wrinkled, they should be comfortable and of high quality. In addition, even wealthy people dress simply and plainly. Symbols of wealth in this country are not expensive clothes, but a comfortable car, a good house in a prestigious area. After all, Americans love to buy clothes at a discount, such as before Independence Day.

However, no one can answer you why Americans don’t iron things; it’s unlikely that they themselves have ever thought about this question. Whether this is how they save electricity and their own resources, or whether it’s just laziness is unclear. But usually, after washing, the laundry goes through another drying procedure in the dryer, and then it is simply folded and sent to the closet.

This is how it turns out that in the frantic pace of life, Americans simply do not have enough time to devote attention to such an activity as ironing. They are completely indifferent to what others think about them. However, no one thinks anything about anyone, since almost all US citizens do not iron their clothes. But they also feel comfortable and do not attach much importance to it.
