Light difference: news or not

Let's not grumble at the manufacturers! Naturally, by indicating the type of spectrum, they did not intend to confuse us. Moreover, it is easy to remember that we had a certain choice before. After all, in the 20th century we used not only “Ilyich bulbs”, but also fluorescent lamps. And they also created different radiation: yellowish (the usual version) or white (daylight). This distinction is also preserved by modern sources.

Reference. Cold radiation has a white tint, while warm radiation is perceived by the eye as more yellow.

Is our perception depends on which spectrum predominates in the light created. Due to the predominance of red (summer) it becomes warmer. Blue (winter) makes the flow colder.

From the physics course we remember that the level of cold and heat can be indicated through temperature. Light can also be measured. For this purpose, a special color temperature is used. It is measured in special units - Kelvin.

types of light

Important! The packaging of an LED lamp indicates its color temperature, indicating the type of lighting.

  • From 2700 to 3500 K - warm white (with a yellowish tint).
  • 3500 - 5000 K - neutral.
  • From 5000 to 6500 K - cool white.

Cold lighting

The luminous flux produced is perceived as neutral.

cold light

Reference. Cool radiation invigorates, helps to maintain attention, concentrate, and tune in to work.

That's why These lamps are best used in office spaces. But they can also come in handy at home. If you have an office or work area, then this light shade would be quite appropriate there.

And in the bathroom above the mirror you can turn on such a light bulb. It will help you finally wake up and get into a working mood.

Warm lighting

warm light

Reference. This type of radiation is considered the most comfortable for humans. It promotes rest, relaxation, and helps relieve accumulated irritation.

A suitable place for such lighting is a bedroom, living room, kitchen dining area (or dining room), children's room.

Keep in mind that this spectrum has one more feature: it distorts other shades. You've probably seen that one of your friends thought your dark blue dress was black. In daylight such a mistake would not have happened. Distortion is also possible with other colors. Therefore, it will not be possible to accurately select shades in such lighting.

Neutral lighting

neutral light

In addition to sources of cold and warm radiation, You can choose an option with neutral light. It is also called "natural white".

Reference. The value of such light is that it allows you to perceive other colors with virtually no distortion.

This is especially important for those who do needlework or work with small parts. And it’s just much more pleasant to read in such lighting.

Which lamp to choose

Now I know that different lamps can give us different sensations. I also realized that it is important not to give preference to any one option, but to have several lamps in stock and, depending on the location, choose either a warm or cold lighting source.
