Why do I sprinkle flour in my kitchen sink: another secret of cleanliness

Each of the women has their own secrets, which they often use when cleaning. Some of them were “inherited” from our grandmothers and mothers, while others were found completely by accident: a neighbor told us, we heard in transport, we read on the Internet.

Here is a life hack with flour that needs to be poured into the sink, from the same opera. Someone heard and decided to check why this was needed. This happened to me too, so I wanted to evaluate all the advantages of the method.

Flour

Why sprinkle flour on the sink?

In fact, flour is a natural cleaning agent, not just a baking ingredient. It helps to effectively and carefully remove fatty deposits and even small stubborn stains. The product, like baking soda, has abrasive properties, but they are very delicate, so a stainless steel sink will not be covered with small scratches.

So what's the benefit of filling your sink with flour?

  1. Removes a layer of fat, even old ones. Sometimes some detergents don't clean well. The reason may be trivial: from poor cleaning to an ineffective product. By the way, after using household chemicals, its particles can remain on the surface of the sink (they are poorly washed out), as a result of which they will certainly enter our body, because they can easily “move over” to the dishes. Flour is a natural product; it not only dissolves fat, but also rolls it off, so it will be easier to remove all the dirt.
  2. Flour can additionally gently polish stainless steel sinks. Moreover, it acts much more delicately, because it does not contain too large particles, unlike soda. The product is unlikely to scratch the surface or protective layer.
  3. If you keep your sink clean only periodically, without paying attention to it at least once every two days, then don’t be surprised that it will darken and become covered with an even greater layer of grease. The thing is that the stronger the coating on the surface, the easier it is for other debris to collect. This may be strange for some, but a clean sink does not attract dust and dirt as much as an uncleaned one. To save both time and effort, you can use flour every day, without waiting for the sink to become covered with a thick layer of grease. By the way, the product costs a penny, and therefore it is much more profitable to use than, for example, store-bought cleaning products, so you can safely waste flour and not be afraid that it will quickly run out and you will have to spend a considerable amount on buying a new package.

Instructions

At first glance, it may seem that this method is time-consuming and not as easy as we would like. But in fact, everything is quite quick and easy:

  1. Initially, the sink must be degreased and washed with regular dishwashing detergent. This will remove at least some dirt from the surfaces.
  2. Rinse well to remove soap scum.
  3. Take any towel or paper napkins and wipe the sink perfectly dry - so that not a single drop is left!Flour
  4. Now take a little flour (about 30 grams) and sprinkle it evenly over the sink.Flour
  5. Now you need to decide which tool you will use. However, either a paper towel or stiffer brushes will do. You need to thoroughly rub the sink for 3-4 minutes. If you notice that the flour has become an unusual shade (closer to gray), then you are doing everything right.Flour
  6. And the last step is to collect the remaining flour and throw it in the trash (never pour it down the drain!).

That's the whole process. Quite easy and banal, but so much use.

Rules

The principle of operation of this method is too simple for every person to understand. Flour sticks to plaque, which may not even be visible. When you start rubbing the sink, all the dirt and deposits roll off.

Don’t forget that you can’t joke with flour, because if used incorrectly, it is quite capable of clogging the sewer. If you mix the product with water, you yourself understand that you will get a sticky mixture that will settle on the walls of the drain and create a blockage that will completely block the drain. Therefore, if you decide to use this cleaning method, use a cork.

Also, don't try to flour the sink too much. You will be able to clean it of fat with a minimum amount of product. Remember that the more powder you add, the longer it will take to remove it later. Start with a small amount. It will seem that this is not enough, add more, but a little at a time, so as not to overdo it too much.
