Unexpected ways to use common household items

We are accustomed to the fact that every item in everyday life has its own purpose. But who said that some of them cannot be used in other areas? It would seem that ordinary soap is for washing hands, but in reality it helps solve other very important problems. And how many more unexpected ways can we find for other things that we sometimes don’t pay attention to?

Foil

It turns out that it helps not only bake delicious food, but also do a couple of other important tasks in the house:

  1. Sharpening scissors. It is enough to simply cut a leaf folded several times with them.
  2. Keeps silverware shiny when wrapped around storage utensils. You can also clean silverware by placing foil on the bottom of the pan, and forks, spoons and knives on top, covering everything with baking soda and pouring boiling water over it. After two or three minutes you can rinse under cold water - everything is clean.
  3. Wrapping the ironing board in foil creates a heat-reflecting surface that speeds up the ironing process.

Another interesting way to use this film is that if you wrap the ends of green bananas in foil, they will ripen more slowly.

Plastic bottles

The most ingenious way that was invented with a plastic bottle is to separate the yolk from the white. This is extremely important when a person is involved in baking.

The method is very simple:

  1. Break the egg into a plate.
  2. Take the bottle, squeeze it a little and place the neck on the yolk.
  3. Now we unclench our hand - the yolk will be drawn inside the container, separating from the white. Ready!

  1. The glasses on your glasses will not fog up due to temperature changes if you wash them with soapy water and then wipe them with a napkin.
  2. Take your favorite bar of soap and put it in your cabinet. Things will smell pleasantly fragrant, and if you take a bar with lavender extract, you can repel moths.
  3. Do the doors in your house start to creak? Wipe door hinges with soap to get rid of annoying noises.
  4. Are you planning to cook over an open fire in a frying pan? Rub its bottom with a block to avoid the appearance of soot.
  5. Run the piece along the zipper to prevent it from snagging.
  6. If you like to sew, then soap can act as a pincushion. In addition, it will additionally lubricate the needles (this is very convenient if you are working with tight materials).

Stationery eraser

It can be successfully used to solve two important problems:

  • to protect against door closing;
  • while working with paints and varnishes.

In the first case, the rubber band holds the door latch open. This is an ideal protection option if a small child lives in the house. For example, the baby will not slam the door or you will not squeak the lock and handle when entering the room when the baby is sleeping.

But to keep the edges of the paint can clean and not drip onto the floor, simply stretch the rubber band around the container and wipe the excess paint on your brush against it.

Fruit net

Most people throw it away in vain, because it is an excellent alternative to hard brushes for washing dishes. You just need to twist it several times and tie it with a strong cord to secure it.This sponge will not scratch delicate materials, including Teflon and cast iron, so you can clean off burnt-on food without the risk of damaging the dishes.

Shower cap

An excellent alternative to plastic bags.

A shower cap will protect your bike seat from the rain; you just need to pull the product over the seat. In the same way, you can keep the hallway tidy and clean by pulling it over the wheels of a stroller (especially after slushy weather!), and you can also pack shoes in it when packing your suitcase for a vacation or business trip.

Dish sponge

If you're going on a picnic and don't have special refrigerants to cool food, feel free to take the sponges out of the cupboard!

  • take a bowl and fill it with as much water as possible;
  • dip the sponges in there and let them absorb as much liquid as they can;
  • as soon as they are completely wet, we place each one in a separate gripper - a bag with a ZIP-LOCK lock;
  • put in the freezer overnight.

In the morning, all you have to do is throw this ice pack in your grocery bag. Of course, they won’t last long in the cold, but it’s better if the picnic food spoiled on the road.

Be sure to use grippers so that when the sponge thaws, the water does not wet everything that was so diligently prepared!
