Unusual uses for dishwashing detergents
An ordinary dishwashing liquid, which every housewife has, is fraught with many possibilities. Folk wisdom has found interesting ways to use it in the most unexpected areas!

We fight weeds
Instead of toxic and expensive herbicides, it is better to use this recipe:
- 1 tbsp. l. any dishwashing liquid;
- 1 glass of salt;
- 4.5 liters of 7% or 9% vinegar.
Pour the resulting mixture into a spray bottle and spray the weeds. Salt and vinegar dry the leaves, and the soap base prevents the product from rolling off the surface. This is a good way to get rid of grass along garden paths.
Protect garden plants from contact with the product, otherwise they will also suffer.
Replacing repellent
The recipe is especially relevant in the heat, when houses, apartments and cottages begin to be attacked by flocks of flying insects. You can put a simple trap on them:
- take any glass;
- fill half the container with apple cider vinegar;
- drip a little dishwashing liquid;
- add warm water to the top.
A thick foam with a sweet smell should appear on top, which will attract insects. They will definitely check what is in the glass and get stuck in the soapy mixture.
We treat indoor plants from pests
It is not at all necessary to run to a specialized store for insecticide. Houseplants can be rid of aphids, mites and whiteflies with a simple and effective remedy:
- take 2 teaspoons of dishwashing detergent;
- dissolve in a glass of warm water;
- pour into a spray bottle;
- carefully process all leaves.
Make sure there is no chlorine, degreaser or antibacterial components in the composition! They will do more harm than good.
Fighting ants
Ants are capable of multiplying at an incredible speed and come into apartments, houses and country houses. It is very difficult to get them out, they remember the paths to food well, so I recommend trying a very good recipe for weaning uninvited guests from your home:
- part of plain water;
- part of table vinegar;
- a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid;
- We spray on the doorsteps of the house, along paths, in clusters of ants.
After some time, the insects will leave, unable to withstand the caustic neighborhood.
Looking for a puncture in the tire
Dissolve dishwashing detergent in water and spray onto the surface of the tire. Soap bubbles will begin to inflate at the puncture site. In this way, the motorist can quickly determine where exactly the air is being released.
Cold compress
This life hack will help with bruises and minor injuries. Take a bag with an airtight zipper, fill it with product, and place it in the freezer. As a result, we get a cold gel that will relieve swelling in an emergency.
Low temperatures do not freeze soap, they only make its structure more viscous and thick.
Glasses won't fog up anymore
This life hack will be useful to anyone who constantly wears glasses. They have the unpleasant property of sweating when entering a warm room.
- Apply a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid to a cloth and gently wipe the lenses on both sides.
- Wait until they dry and remove any remaining product with a dry cloth.
- Polish until shiny.
Dealing with squeaky door hinges
There is no need to spend money on expensive aerosols and lubricants; just apply dishwashing liquid to the hinges. In order for it to be distributed better, open and close the door a couple of times. All! Silence is guaranteed.
We break through the blockage
Pour about half a glass of liquid into the sink or toilet drain and leave for 15 or 20 minutes. To speed up the process, then add a liter of boiling water from the kettle, but it is important not to overdo it! Fragile surfaces may crack.
Removing greasy stains
Before the experiment, you should definitely try the method on an inconspicuous area!
The product can remove fat not only from plates! It is great for cleaning a wide variety of items:
- cloth;
- tile;
- carpet;
- tables;
- floor;
- food processor;
- blender;
- oven;
- cooking surfaces.
Even the most stubborn stains on the kitchen stove come off without any extra effort! Simply apply dishwashing liquid to the surface, rub evenly with a sponge and wait about 20-30 minutes. Then rinse everything off thoroughly. There are no stains, no streaks, no scratches!
Good products can even deal with oil stains in the garage.
Bubble
A regular store-bought bottle doesn’t last long, literally 1-2 days. I advise you to use a simple and cheap method:
- 2/3 cup dishwashing liquid;
- 2-3 teaspoons glycerin or corn syrup;
- 4 liters of water.
The bubbles are denser and inflate very well.
Shampoo Additive
And for starters, a life hack for washing oily hair! Just one drop of the magic drug added to the shampoo is enough, and your curls will get rid of oily shine.
It's amazing how many secrets one bottle can hide! Knowing all the tricks listed above, you can significantly save on expensive chemicals.
Perhaps today I’ll try one of the proposed methods on aphid ants.
