Why jeans?
Denim fabric is perfect for making a wrench organizer. Why jeans? Because it is in almost every home, because many of us love to wear jeans. The material is also practical and durable, easy to wash, and can withstand any load.
The case can be not only a classic shape, but also in the form of a belt bag.
How to do it, how to correctly calculate the size of each pocket
To sew a case for wrenches you will need: denim, bias tape, pins, chalk, pencil, ruler and scissors.
First, determine the size of the case by placing the keys in a row in descending order. Using a ruler and chalk, measure the width of each section. In our case, the width of the widest pocket is 7 cm, subsequent ones are 0.5 cm smaller. As a result, the total length of the product was 76 cm, the height of the largest wrench was 18 cm, the smallest was 11 cm. Now remove the keys and cut the pocket along the marked lines. Draw a line from the largest to the smallest key. Then cut out the resulting part, leaving allowances along all cuts. Fold the top edge of the pocket to the wrong side and hem it. Set aside and begin making the main part of the case.
Lay out the fabric according to the following pattern: length of the product - 76 cm, width - 50 (fold in the middle of the product). The width of the organizer should be equal to the width of the pocket. Cut out a rectangle and fold it in half. Using pins, baste the pocket piece on top and machine stitch it. Sew along the marked lines, securing at the end. Round the bottom corners. Sew bias tape around the perimeter of the cover. The tool case is ready. If desired, you can make a fastener using Velcro tape or fittings. Now it is almost impossible to lose your keys.
Tips on what material can replace jeans
To sew a tool bag, you don’t have to use only denim. It can be replaced with raincoat fabric, tarpaulin, nylon or leather.
Leather or nylon materials are dense, tear-resistant and wear-resistant.
Faux leather is inferior in quality to leather and is not so easy to find. As for nylon, you can easily find it in a variety of stores. It is universal and costs less. Bags, organizers and cases made of nylon do not require special care and are almost weightless.
You can sew a case for wrenches from oilcloth on a fabric basis. The main advantages of the fabric are its low cost and density. This is the most suitable option for those who want to practice cutting and sewing. But keep in mind that oilcloth is still inferior to leather in terms of durability.
If you decide to make a belt bag for tools, you can remake an old briefcase or handbag. Remember, a bag for “home helpers” should be comfortable, roomy and have several compartments.
