How to stop washing dishes and start living?
Nobody likes to wash dishes - this is, in fact, almost an axiom. What’s especially annoying is the fact that for some reason it’s always terribly lazy to wash one plate, but storing a mountain of kitchen utensils in the sink is something each of us can do. And then, already in the process, the thought that it should have been done on time still flashes through. And the most interesting thing is that even realizing the need and importance of washing dishes right away, few of us follow this principle.
Agree, do you also constantly wash dishes that appear out of nowhere (although it’s definitely clear!)? Collecting cups around the house? Have you always wanted to reduce the amount of dirty dishes and at least somehow take a break from this every minute procedure? Then there is one small life hack for you, but what an effective one!
How to reduce the amount of dirty dishes to a minimum?
I will tell you an example from personal experience, and all you have to do is analyze and start acting.
I have a lot of dishes: 6 deep plates and even more small ones, a whole shelf of cups (I love them very much), a bunch of cutlery (knives both in the stand and in the drawer), bowls of different sizes, 5 saucepans. For me alone this is too much. Sometimes I definitely realize this, but sometimes I don’t have time to hide the extra money or give it to those in need, sometimes I’m lazy, sometimes “what do you mean give it away?!” But I was tired of constantly washing this whole mountain, so I decided to find the mistake and correct it.
It turned out to be very simple. In fact, I only need one plate at all - a deep one. It is convenient to eat both first and second courses - for breakfast, lunch and dinner there is only one container left.
A mega revision was carried out in the cutlery drawer, so now there are only three items in there - a fork, a table spoon and a tea spoon.
By the way, I only left two of the knives - my favorite ones. I realized that I only used the others because the most comfortable ones were dirty and I was too lazy to wash them.
When I got to the shelf with cups, it was difficult for me. The fact is that I collect them - I love a variety of them, with pictures, transparent ones, and unusual shapes. That’s why I chose only two – for coffee and tea.
Pots... Another pain, because I always wanted to have a lot of dishes for cooking. It may be extra, but it’s all my own. But here too I was categorical: I left a small one for 3 liters, another 5 liters and a ladle. There is one frying pan, with a diameter of 24 cm.
I also left a couple of salad bowls and, of course, cooking accessories: a ladle, a spatula, a whisk. All. The rest of the dishes were packed into boxes and sent for storage to the farthest corner. The game has begun…
And what do I want to say! I realized that the mountain of dishes in the sink was because there was too much on hand. The more dishes you have, the more you will clean up in the evening. After all, it’s easier to take a clean one from a pile than to wash the old one right away. Hence the laziness - why wash if they are lying there and waiting in the wings. The situation is similar with cups, spoons, forks, bowls and other items. Excess breeds chaos and disorder.
Using such a simple example, you can conduct an experiment in families with several people. Leave only the required amount. Let there be no stock. You can generally assign each family member his own dishes, and then he is responsible for washing them. By the way, in this way, I think, you can teach children to be mindful and involve them in household chores when their mother doesn’t have time to do anything at all or is incredibly tired.
It may seem that without extra dishes it will be uncomfortable and inconvenient. But it’s much worse from dirty utensils and scattered things!
If you are tired of constantly struggling with the mountain in the sink, try this method. Perhaps you will like it and start living in a new way.
