How an American woman invented a house that cleans itself

Every housewife will agree with me that cleaning cannot be much fun. On the contrary, it is a regular, routine duty that has to be performed day after day for the benefit of the whole family. But this time could be spent with children in a relaxed atmosphere. This is what Frances Gabe once thought and created a self-cleaning house. It was literally a huge dishwasher that washed the house with soap and dried it in no time.

The Story of Frances Gabe

Francis Gabe
Frances Bathizon was born back in 1915 in Oregon. The girl was very smart, and already at the age of 14 she managed to graduate from a polytechnic college as an external student. Then fate connected her with her future husband, an electrical engineer, who, after the end of World War II, could not find a job.

After quite a long time, the family decided to send Francis to work. Which is what she did, successfully creating her own business for restoring destroyed buildings.

For many years this activity brought wealth and prosperity to the family, but then the husband rebelled. Apparently, his wife’s success did not give him peace of mind. At first, he demanded to change his last name, so Frances became Gabe instead of Batizon, but this was the end of the family conflicts, and after some time the couple decided to divorce. The inventor was left alone with her children and her business.

Important! Frances did not grieve that she had to work hard and on one's own pull children. She only complained that her household duties took up too much of her time, which she could devote to her children.

And then one day, when the inventor was cleaning up the kitchen after breakfast, she saw jam flowing down the kitchen set and flew into a frenzy. In anger, the woman grabbed the garden hose and washed the sweet brew off the box with a strong stream of water. It was at this moment that the idea came to her mind to create a house that could wash itself in this way.

How a unique self-cleaning house was created

cleaning system
It took Frances almost twenty years to invent all the systems for her dream home. Self-Cleaning House is a self-cleaning house that washes itself and dries itself effectively. She had to completely rebuild her own house, made from cinder blocks. The woman also had to obtain 68 patents for various inventions needed to remodel the house.

Important! Frances Geib has been involved in resolving issues related to organizing remodeling since 1979. She not only had to obtain many patents, but also make a huge number of calculations to make the mechanism work like a clock.

The inventor's dream came true in 1984, when she managed to rebuild her own house into an innovative one. It should be noted that not only the house with all its rooms and cabinets was washed, but even the doghouse, including the animal itself.

Construction of an innovative house

To begin with, all surfaces in the house, including the walls, floor and ceiling, were covered with a waterproof material, like resin. This was necessary to prevent water from damaging the furniture and decoration. The furniture was also replaced with innovative ones - made of waterproof materials. We had to refuse only carpets that could not be altered.

Important! The cleaning process included not only washing the walls, floors and ceilings and cleaning them from dust and dirt, but also washing clothes directly in the closet. And also washing dishes directly in the cabinets.

houseIt is noteworthy that the accumulating water flowed through special gutters from the sloping floor directly into the dog’s kennel. This is how Mrs. Gabe saved water and washed the dog house and her pet at the same time.

It is known that special irrigation systems were installed on the ceilings, which first supplied a soap solution and then washed the rooms with clean water. The floors in the house were sloped to allow water to flow out through gutters. After each cycle, flows of warm air were supplied to the rooms, which dried the house.

Surprisingly, the house even had a fireplace, which itself was cleared of ash, as well as bookshelves that were cleared of dust. Chests of drawers and wardrobes were equipped on the principle of a washing machine with a drying function. Things just had to be carefully hung on hangers and, at the right moment, a clean piece of clothing should be taken out.

The kitchen cabinets were designed like a dishwasher. The housewife put used dishes on the shelves, and after the cleaning cycle received clean and dried plates and mugs.

In the 80s of the last century, the innovative house enjoyed success and popularity. Tourists came to visit Mrs. Gabe, she was often invited to various television shows, and even investors appeared, but no one was in a hurry to buy new technologies. And in 2001, the house was damaged by an earthquake, and the system stopped working fully.

Seven years after the disaster, the family sent the elderly inventor to live out her years in a nursing home.By this time, all patents had expired, and no one needed the inventions. Frances Gabe died at the age of 101, in 2016, outliving her husband and children.
