Was that even possible? Trick with a vegetable peeler for 150 rubles
Most of us have this tool - a vegetable peeler. And for some reason it is the same for everyone. Well, this is quite understandable. Such a thing costs, in fact, pennies. The maximum price is about 200 rubles. But it performs its functions perfectly: it cleans and cuts, and does not break for a long time, and does not become covered with rust. Quite a good purchase. But this thing has one non-standard use that you will definitely like.

Direct purpose of vegetable peeler
In general, it copes with the cleaning task with a bang. It is very convenient to work with, the peels are cleaned perfectly, I especially like to peel potatoes, apples, daikon, beets, carrots, ginger, and indeed all root vegetables with it.
Sometimes I can use it to cut vegetables into salads, stews, sautés and other delicacies. It turns out to be a cool thin straw. However, you can decorate sliced meat or cheese on your holiday table in the same way. For example, straws of cucumber, carrot, apple. Or whatever you like best.
In general, there are not so many use cases, to be honest. But when this vegetable peeler breaks down, I’ll buy exactly the same one.
However, the tool has another secret method, which I’ll tell you about.
The vegetable peeler trick
I saw this life hack somewhere on the Internet a long time ago, but I forgot about it very quickly.
The thing is, I’m not particularly good with baking. The maximum is charlotte in my version. And recently I felt the urge to urgently learn the basics of cooking and create a biscuit. But there, as you know, the yolk of an egg needs to be separated from the white. And then I remembered that a vegetable peeler can help me a lot with this!
To do this, I took a small container so that the tool would rest firmly on top. You can take wider dishes. The main thing is that the vegetable peeler lies rooted to the spot. Otherwise everything is lost!
Then take a chicken egg. Be sure to wash it (hygiene rules!).
And we break it so that the contents clearly fall into the recess with holes. In general, these holes are intended for garlic in order to make a puree from it, but I have never used it for its intended purpose: I am more familiar with a garlic press.
We see that the yolk is retained, and the white gradually flows into the bowl. It is enough to wait 20 seconds to completely separate them from each other.
In such a simple and easy way, I managed to complete one of the main components of preparing a sponge cake. This is an ideal option for those who are just learning the basics of baking and have not yet learned how to do this with one movement of the hand.
Do you know any cooking tricks? Be sure to share them in the comments.
There are teeth on the holes, but what do they serve? Can you remove scales from fish?
These holes are for grinding the garlic into a puree. Some even manage to grate carrots on them. However, your assumption is quite interesting - we need to try it somehow :)
Take a small 200 gram water bottle, squeeze it, bring it to the broken egg on a plate and carefully, gradually release the bottle until the yolk enters it. The protein remains on the plate. You can break the egg in the middle and carefully pour the white into a container, and roll the yolk from one shell to another. But this requires experience.
How? How could it come to this? Yes you are a witch...
Is it such a difficult task to separate the whites from the yolks that you need to come up with life hacks? My 8-year-old daughter copes with this perfectly even...
And no one tells what the hole, shaped like an eggplant, is intended for. For what?
In general, the direct purpose of this hole is to hang it on a small hook. For example, on a rail, so that the tool is always at hand, although I store it perfectly in a drawer with cutlery. But maybe someone will come up with a more practical use for it and be happy to share it with us.
For those who know the basics of cooking. When preparing the simplest (and best, in my opinion) biscuit dough, you do not need to separate the whites from the yolks. The recipe is remembered once.
The same amount of eggs - tablespoons of sugar - tablespoons of flour. Let it be three, for a small charlotte. Beat 3 eggs with 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar until almost white, so that it increases 3-4 times in volume and slowly add one tablespoon at a time, stirring (in one direction!!!) the flour.FSE! Pour into a mold lined with baking paper and into the oven if you just need a sponge cake for a cake, or pour in the chopped apples if you are making a charlotte.
I'm shocked. All my life I deprived an egg of its protein by simply hitting it on the edge of a frying pan or pan. Poor egg, how difficult its path into dough is in the modern world. And then you also have to wash all these thirty-three dishes? No, I'm doing it the old fashioned way. Bam, the yolk is in one half of the shell, and the white has flown away to its destination.
I pour the egg into a bowl, scoop up the yolk with a tablespoon, and transfer it to another bowl. I never understood this rolling of the yolk from shell to shell - the white flows down your hands, the sharp edge of the shell can easily damage the yolk... a nightmare procedure! The one proposed is no better either.
This has already been written about on the Internet more than once.
Of all the types of vegetable peelers, this one is the most inconvenient! And it also breaks quickly. And the holes in it are by no means for garlic. Where did you even get this from? Have you tried grating garlic through them? He'll just get smeared! But cheese or eggs rub very well. As for separating the yolk from the white, this is a completely working method. Only, in my opinion, it’s faster from shell to shell and there’s no need to dirty anything extra. Why complicate things?
Strange article, as if all these knives are the same. Personally, I have a completely different one, and I’ve never even seen anything like it.
Nothing new except egg stupidity!
Yes, the problem is separating the yolk from the white! Do not make me laugh.
Nothing like it - this is the most convenient vegetable peeler! You can also use it to chop carrots the Korean way!
These vegetable peelers are different. In the Nicer Dicer it is similar, but in other sets it is different. But I bought this one for 100 rubles. I’m so used to it that I practically don’t use others.
You can also use a sharp protrusion to peel oranges, cut them from the stem through the top to the stem several times and open them with petals.
These vegetable peelers, even if they look the same, are actually different. I bought a Belarusian one several years ago. Super! I thought about buying it as a spare and bought the same one on Ali, one for one. But that was not the case. It cannot be compared with the Belarusian one; it is now useless. And I’ve been using the Belarusian one for seven years now, nothing has been done to it.
I have one too, but I bought it for 30 rubles. I also use it to cut cheese. The result is very thin slices, almost translucent. I like.
These holes are specifically for cleaning fish, they are incredibly convenient, try it, but they are too large for garlic.
And I have a Belarusian grater from Soviet times, I’ve been using it every day for more than forty years and it doesn’t get dull, but modern ones only have a more beautiful design, but they get dull very quickly.
Very comfortable, I’ve had this for over 10 years, I bought it for 30 rubles when they sold “everything for 30 rubles”
What if I separate 40-50 pieces? I separate it faster with a knife (I hit it, divided it into two halves, drained the white - the yolk remained). Something like this.
This is an African miracle.
