Relief foil stamping – what is it?
Notepads, gift wrapping, boxes of chocolates and much more. Such products often use relief embossing with special paper. This design technique gives the item status and makes it attractive to potential buyers.
The impression is placed on different materials. The main thing is that it is elastic and amenable to working with fragile foil.
Using simple tools, the master presses through the metallized layer, creating a relief inscription or ornament. The final result acts as a decorative element and increases the value of the printed product.
Tools for execution
Most often, the procedure is automated in production. There are large installations that work with thin decorative materials. There are two printing methods - hot and cold.
The heating option involves installing a metallized film on an intermediate carrier in metal dies. They are heated and pressed tightly against an elastic material. As a result, the foil is transferred to the surface, directly into the impression obtained under pressure.
Cold involves a type of lamination.Shaped, shiny paper is glued to the surface without the use of heat. This method is more preferable, since it is minimal in cost and does not take much time. In addition, the use of hot stamps is not required.
Types of embossing
The decoration technology has two types of embossing: blind and embossed. The first method involves the presence of a cliche with a drawn stamp and a layer of foil applied to it. Under a press, it is pressed against an elastic material, creating an indented pattern with a foil coating.
Conveying involves the presence of two stamps. They press into each other. To ensure a gold-plated or silver-plated pattern, a foil layer is laid between them.
This technology allows you to obtain convex and concave images.
Embossing foil allows you to give printed products an attractive appearance, increase their selling price and make them more attractive to potential buyers.
