3 repair mistakes that will probably ruin the lives of residents

They are afraid of repairs and dream about them. One way or another, it is stressful for everyone, especially if the process was not well planned. For example, I didn’t think through everything and took into account only some of the details. That is why today I will share my personal experience and talk about stupid decisions that can ruin life after renovation.

The greatest pain is electrical

Before installing the wiring, you need to plan the position of the furniture. It would seem like an obvious step, but some people, like me, neglect it. In the worst case, the outlet will be behind the closet or behind the washing machine. At best, it will be difficult to reach without an extension cord.

Bad wiring

You can’t have too many sockets, but you can’t have enough! Does it seem like a certain amount is enough? Then you need to take this number and add one. Only after this will there really be enough connectors. However, you shouldn’t stick them anywhere either. I try not to touch the ones installed next to the kitchen sink at all for safety reasons. And they need to be installed not low, even if there are no children or animals in the house now. Once they appear, nothing can be fixed. Sockets should be 1.5 meters from the floor, nothing else.

Switches are in one place. At first it seems: “Oh, so convenient!” However, in the end it turns out like this: you stand and click until you get to the right one out of four. Even a year after the renovation, I still can’t learn the location! The switch should be as close as possible to what it is responsible for.

Medium pain - geography

Having chosen a slightly embossed light tile with a slight gray imitation of marble, I set myself up with a huge pig. The pattern always makes the floor seem dirty. Moreover, the relief makes it difficult to wash it adequately! And the heating installation turned out to be full of surprises. In the kitchen it is almost superfluous because of the refrigerator.

I also never imagined that I would dream about having a pantry. If redevelopment is planned, it is worth thinking about it carefully. Otherwise, fishing rods, wheels, strollers, buckets and other seasonal trash will live everywhere in the apartment. And this is not comme il faut at all.

Dresser

Shared bathroom is another mistake of a lifetime. However, I have such a layout at home - at least it’s not my fault. But the bathroom ventilation is to blame. If it does not have access to the street or to another part of the house (the notorious window), a good hood is definitely needed. Otherwise, mold and midges are guaranteed.

And under no circumstances should you leave important pipes, batteries and wiring without easy access. Yes, it's nicer to hide it. However, if something breaks, you will have to make new repairs after picking at the walls with a hammer drill.

Less pain - furniture

It seems that one large closet with a bunch of shelves will last a lifetime? Well, everything here is the same as with sockets. Take a number and add at least one. It is a mistake to think that if there are few things in the family, then a couple of shelves, one cabinet and a single closet will be enough. Unless a person leads an extremely ascetic lifestyle.

Rearranging furniture in the house

Horizontal surfaces also quickly became insufficient and I had to buy another table. And, of course, moving all the furniture, so lovingly arranged into an ideal plan. And when friends showed up to spend the night with me, I suddenly realized that there was only one bed at home. There wasn't even a sofa. I didn’t need it, so I didn’t buy it.However, if a person is an eternal lonely wanderer, this advice can be ignored.
