13 useless things that clutter your kitchen (better remove immediately!)
For many of us, there comes a time when it feels like the kitchen is simply cluttered. There is not enough space, important accessories do not fit on the shelves, the tabletop is littered with incomprehensible objects, and you uncontrollably want to throw everything away in order to somehow free up space. I'll tell you about 13 useless things that take up a lot of space in the kitchen, but are not practical. If it’s a shame to throw it away, you can give it to someone who really needs it. At worst, put it in a separate box and put it somewhere away (pantry, balcony, basement).

Fridge magnets
Once upon a time this “decor” was very popular. We returned from every vacation with similar souvenirs and proudly displayed them on the refrigerator doors. However, you must agree that this fashion has long been considered a relic, and it causes a lot of trouble. For example, it is very difficult to wash the outer surface of equipment: you have to remove everything and then hang it up again. And some magnets tend to leave unpleasant dark marks on the door, most of which cannot be wiped off at all.
Let's do an experiment.Remove all magnets from the refrigerator. Let's see. What changed? In fact, nothing drastic. But visually the kitchen seems cleaner and tidier. Leave the equipment like this for about a month. If, after the expiration date, there is a burning desire to return everything to its place, then hang them back. Usually this does not happen, and magnets remain a thing of the past.
Old kitchen towels
Textiles in the form of napkins are a truly necessary thing. Either wipe your hands or lift the hot lid. However, towels generally have a limited lifespan. Since it is customary to wash them as often as possible (due to frequent contact with food and greasy hands), the appearance of the textiles deteriorates greatly, and the fabric in most cases becomes covered with stubborn stains that cannot be completely washed off.
If your towels have long lost their presentable appearance, then it is better to replace them with new ones. Fortunately, you can buy such things at a very reasonable price. The appearance of the room may not change dramatically, but faded towels will no longer irritate the eye.
Filters for water
Nobody denies that people need clean water. But you must admit that finding a really stylish jug with a built-in filter is quite problematic. In addition, such containers are difficult to care for: they need to be cleaned regularly so that mold does not settle there and the water is truly useful. In addition, filters often take up a lot of space on the countertop. But there is a way out! You can purchase a special mixer and install it on the sink. It is already equipped with a built-in filter, and therefore clean water will simply come from the tap (as a rule, not from the main one, but from the additional one).
Food containers after delivery
Plyushkin's syndrome forces us to store everything that comes into our house. The explanation for this is simple - “maybe it will come in handy!” But... it's not useful. Therefore, any plastic boxes that once contained food can be safely thrown into the trash. Practice shows that after washing they lie idle for a long time, and then are disposed of anyway.
Package with packages
Yes, entire generations have been associated with this accessory. Our great-grandmothers had the package, then our grandmothers, and we inherited it from our mothers. And it seems as if our kitchen wouldn’t be a kitchen at all without it. Legends are made about him, memes are drawn. And in general, life without him doesn’t seem so comfortable.
But there is a way out here too! You can find special containers on sale that are much more convenient to use. They are located under the sink or behind the door. Its advantage is that there are large holes all over the surface, through which you can easily get the desired package without tearing through the rest.
Disposable tableware
Here we can draw a direct analogy with containers after food delivery. In most cases, such things are not needed in everyday life, but are used, as a rule, at outdoor picnics, so as not to waste time on washing dishes. But some manage to take disposable plates and cutlery home, wash them, put them on a shelf and wait for their finest hour. I hasten to disappoint you - this hour usually does not come, and the dishes still end up in the trash sooner or later.
Small household appliances
Of course, you shouldn’t radically get rid of everything. But you need to find a place in closed cabinets. The fact is that often the abundance of small household appliances on the countertop takes up useful space.Agree that the placed toasters, mixers, blenders, kitchen scales, waffle irons and other little things are not used by us every day. However, visually all this clutters the room and sometimes interferes with cooking.
Rusted baking dishes
Any utensils that have become rusty should be thrown away immediately. Not only do the dishes in it turn out to be, let’s say, not of the best quality, but they can also be harmful to health. Found a rusty baking sheet? In the trash. It’s better to purchase one high-quality mold that is not prone to corrosion and will serve you for a long time (for example, silicone), than to try to erase irremovable defects and put not only yourself but also your loved ones at risk.
Glass holders
This accessory is good when hidden behind the kitchen unit door. Or neatly suspended above the tabletop on a rail. It looks much more relevant and neat than a bar counter attached to a vertical pipe, which often visually spoils the interior of the entire room.
Cracked dishes
Any plates and cups with significant defects will in no way save you in everyday life. Often we store them because “it’s a shame to throw them away.” Do not doubt! Immediately throw away all cracked dishes and buy new ones, which will be several times more useful.
Oilcloths and films
All these multi-colored tablecloths and tacky PVC cuts, which were popular when our mothers and grandmothers were young, have long become a relic. It is much more important to place a special self-adhesive transparent film on the table, which is not visible and at the same time will protect the table from damage. In the end, you can buy a tablecloth, but it is better to choose plain materials to match the kitchen set.
Old dish sponges
The situation is similar to bags, plastic containers and disposable tableware. The explanation “what if it comes in handy” often leads to a lot of unnecessary sponges appearing in the kitchen, which never find their use in the future.
Do not store used washcloths, which are already inhabited by a whole bunch of germs and bacteria. Feel free to throw them in the trash, and for technical needs it is better to get special brushes and/or napkins.
Expired products
Any comments are unnecessary here. Any expired food should go in the trash. Canned food, cereals (even if there are no bugs in them), flour, sprouted potatoes, limp vegetables - in the trash. Otherwise - poisoning and hospital.
Are filters cluttering? Will you install a built-in one in every rented apartment?
If the kitchen has no cabinets and only a few open shelves, holders for glasses and cups are a lifesaver!
And it’s not the bag of bags that clutters up, but the amount that people bring from every trip to the store! Use bags and you won’t have to store the bags.
Rave…
8 points are controversial, and four are obvious.
If you put a toaster in a cupboard, it's better to throw it out immediately, because I don't know a single person who would reach into a cupboard for toast.
Oilcloth films and towels are purely a matter of taste.
And replacing the bag for bags with a design that you hide in the closet... You can hide the bag in the closet, and it will also not irritate your eyes...
And filtered water from the same spout as the usual one, in my opinion, is a mockery of marketers.
