And it is a completely absurd assumption that a gift can bring harm, not only to the recipient, but also to the giver himself. So you brought as a gift, from the bottom of your heart, an exclusive model of a cleaver to a superstitious person. Naturally, thoughts creep into his mind that you have decided to harm him. And, unintentionally, having begun to suspect you, in the most advanced form of superstition, he may decide to take revenge for such a gift.

The rationale behind ridiculous fears

Despite the overwhelming majority of supporters of the mystical purpose of a sharp souvenir, there are, albeit more logical, but still opponents of this, at first glance, an ordinary item.

They consider the main justification to be the danger of piercing objects. It is clear that a gift is given for an occasion, and if there is an occasion, then a feast is implied by itself. Well, at a feast, like in a circus, sometimes the most unexpected attributes are used for performance, and knives are no exception. Plus, alcohol is the first friend of brawlers and bullies. What if such a hot guest grabs a knife in an impulse? That's right, statistics are an immutable thing and most mass celebrations end in accidents.

Second example. A beautifully packaged surprise attracts children's attention. And God forbid that a child takes out a knife and simply unintentionally injures himself, or, while playing, injures a neighbor.

What to do if you were given a knife

It seems that most of the fears are logical and have a right to life. But if you think about it soberly, accidents can happen for the most unforeseen reasons, and children, due to their curiosity, often receive various injuries. As for prejudices and superstitions, those who do not notice them are invulnerable.

Therefore, if you find yourself the owner of a valuable designer tool, or a set of expensive kitchen knives, do not panic under any circumstances, and after thanking the owner, enjoy sincere wishes and such a necessary thing.

A story about the gift of a knife from personal experience

A friend gave me a knife for my birthday. Of course, the knife is beautiful, apparently expensive. A few months later, we stopped communicating with our friend, and there was no apparent reason to break off the relationship. Whether this is connected with a strange gift from him or not, I don’t even know, but the fact remains a fact.
