9 things that are stored in the kitchen (and in vain)

Many of us have items in the kitchen that we, one might say, don’t use at all and store, we don’t know why, in case they come in handy. But in most cases they remain on shelves or in drawers. Some of them accumulate dust on surfaces (and we breathe it), others are better to throw away altogether so as not to endanger yourself and your loved ones (for example, expired household chemicals).

In any case, the time has come to say goodbye to them - to make room for something more useful, pleasant and practical.

Bread maker (multi-cooker)

Once upon a time, bread machines were mega popular. What they cooked in them: Easter cakes, muffins, bread, buns. But when loved ones have had their fill of homemade baked goods, the device is immediately sent to the far shelf. In addition, many families noted that with the purchase of a bread machine, extra pounds somehow strangely appear, but for some reason they do not disappear. Of course, homemade bread is so tasty that you want to eat it all the time - hence the weight gain. Over time, people forget about the device, preferring a faster way to get baked goods - just go to the store and buy what you need, rather than understand the features of the dough for different types of baked goods.

Bread maker

Almost the same can be said about the multicooker.Yes, many families cook with it every day, especially when there's no time to do anything on the stove, but most of us have both devices languishing in the back of our cupboards.

Multicooker

Analyze how many times over the past year you have used a bread maker or multicooker. If this is only a couple of times, then it is better to give the equipment to a friend/mother/grandmother/sister, where it will definitely be used. The same goes for other devices, which are stored somewhere in a distant closet for years and only collect dust.

Souvenir mugs

Very often we receive mugs as a gift - as a souvenir from distant countries, as gratitude or a comic present, and simply as a token of attention. Products may contain funny inscriptions, photographs, interesting drawings. And they all go on the shelf, cluttering up such valuable space.

Of course, if you constantly drink tea or coffee from them, then you don’t need to touch them, but when most of them are not used for their intended purpose, they should disappear. Under no circumstances should you run to the trash can. It is enough to carefully pack them in a box, wrapped in newspaper, and put them somewhere on the balcony/in the closet. And it’s better to leave the empty shelf for mugs that you use often and every day.

Old and spare dishes

Let's be honest: sometimes we are so sorry to part with plates and bowls that seem to be nothing, but we definitely won’t use them for some inexplicable reason. This is how we store them, creating whole mountains of utensils in the kitchen set.

And there are two options here.Either you are Plyushkin, who carefully and purposefully creates entire “collectible” collections from colored plates and cups at home, or you admit that everything has long been out of your control and are urgently taking action, namely, going through all the utensils and boldly saying goodbye to what you no longer need.

First of all, deal with cracked and rusty dishes: they definitely have no place in your kitchen!

Old dishes

Additional spices and grains

Very often, when we come to the store and see products on sale, the question immediately arises in our heads: “Do I have buckwheat/flour/rice/black peppercorns/bay leaf?” (the list, in fact, can be endless). And immediately we find the answer: “Yes, I’ll take it, let it be!” And then we return home, and what do we see... In the cupboard there are already two packs of rice, three packs of pasta, a whole jar of bay leaves and several bags of the same spices. And all of them were also bought under the pretext “maybe they will come in handy.”

To avoid storing extra packs and cluttering the shelves with them, always conduct an audit of the products. Excess cereals and spices are not the best solution, even if you want total savings. Often, all this lies for months (or even years), bugs/midges infest it, and we somehow take it all to the trash container. Not a very efficient saving, is it?

Old textiles

Carefully evaluate the appearance of your tea towels? Holes - in the trash, faded - say goodbye, stained - throw away immediately. Make it a habit to use only good, clean textiles. We only live once, so we can afford to buy a towel.

Don't want to throw it away? Use it for the floor, in the garage, or give it to an animal shelter in the end - they will definitely find a use there, and they will be grateful to you for the rest of their lives!

Towels

Pile of cutlery

In general, the cutlery drawer should contain one set, including the minimum required number of spoons, forks and knives. If you are constantly given additional products or you cannot refuse to buy new ones, then do not clutter the sections with new devices. Fold them separately and take them out only in case of emergency (for example, when guests arrive).

Cutlery

Products with an expiring date (or completely expired)

There is not even anything to explain or comment on here. This is simply a blasphemous waste of space in the closet, and also a health hazard. An audit should be carried out not only in cereals, canned food and spices, but also in the refrigerator.

Canned food

Excess of spatulas and ladles

How many wooden spatulas, ladles and skimmers do you need to be happy? Something tells me that one at most is enough. Moreover, we do not use them every day. Be sure to remove unnecessary items and leave only those that are necessary for comfortable cooking.

Ladle

Unnecessary cleaning products

In the kitchen we often store household chemicals, which we need to clean surfaces from grease, carbon deposits, wash dishes and other important tasks. Be sure to look into the storage areas and conduct an analysis. After all, many of the funds could have been purchased in reserve or in some spontaneous impulse, but in the end they were not useful. It is likely that their expiration date has long passed. You can’t leave them at home; this can lead to quite sad consequences. Firstly, someone will take it by mistake and use it. Secondly, even through tightly closed bottles, dangerous substances can evaporate, polluting the air and causing coughing, runny nose, skin rashes and other unpleasant consequences.

Comments and feedback:

I agree with almost everything. Only the presence of a bread machine is becoming more and more relevant in our time. An irreplaceable thing! Store-bought bread has become completely inedible, and you can simply prepare dough for pies or dumplings without any hassles or wasting time.

A multi-pressure cooker is an indispensable thing in the kitchen! Cook broth for first courses, jellied meat, shanks in beer, millet porridge with pumpkin!!!! Also a bread machine, constantly in operation. Those who have nothing to do do not need equipment!
