Homemade garage heater
As a rule, stationary garages do not have a heating system. But it’s enough to spend a few hours in an unheated room during the cold season, and you’ll immediately wonder how to heat it. But there is a way out, and you don’t have to buy an expensive device in a store; you can easily make it yourself.

Preparation of materials and tools
A homemade heater for the garage is a really budget option, especially if you use materials taken, so to speak, from the household. But even if you buy the necessary items, you will be able to save money.
The main thing is to ensure safety when using a DIY garage heater. Therefore, we build a simple, understandable structure. The oil version of the heater is most consistent with all of the above.
It fully meets the criteria of safety and efficiency and is compact and does not take up much space. How to make a garage heater with your own hands? So, for the manufacturing process you will need the following set:
- Radiator or sectional battery;
- heating element;
- Low power pump;
- Tools (drill, drill bits, welding machine, electrodes).
Important! When choosing a heating element, pay attention to power. For a small garage, 1-3 kW is enough. In this case, the standard voltage is suitable - 220 volts.
And, of course, you will need clean and heat-resistant oil. It is required in an amount of 85% of the volume of the radiator (battery). The remaining space is needed for air.
Operating principle and diagram
Homemade garage heaters are connected to the equipment network in parallel. The thermostat should also be attached to the structure.
The operating scheme is simple: the heating element heats the oil, then the convection movement of the flows begins. Heat is redistributed inside the battery evenly. And thus gradually warms the air in the room.
Assembly and performance testing
If you took an old battery, it needs to be cleaned. If the battery is not available, you can weld it yourself from steel pipes.
We install a heating element in the lower branch pipe of the battery, a hole for it is made with a grinder, and then it is secured with bolts. But it is also necessary to leave room for the pump. Both of these elements should not touch each other.
It is recommended to install the structure on a mobile (with wheels) stand. It can be assembled using steel angles, channels, etc.
When the structure is ready, all that remains is to check the tightness and add oil. Before the first start-up, it is advisable to ground the device.
An oil regulator, assembled with your own hands, will become an effective heater for the garage. Its only drawback is its high electricity consumption.
