Installing a soft start on a miter saw
To maintain a vegetable garden and garden plot, a certain number of tools are required. Modern realities are such that electrical appliances are more convenient in everyday life. They help you get your work done faster and easier. But devices with great functionality are expensive and not always rational for household needs.

How to install a soft start on a miter saw?
Inexpensive models have a minimal set of functions and are not equipped with the ability to softly start electric current. In the absence of such skill, the power tool quickly breaks down and you have to buy a new one.
However, carrying out modernization with your own hands is not as difficult as it seems at first glance.
Why do you need a soft start?
If the warranty on your instrument has long expired, you can make your own adjustments, especially since they won’t take up much space. The microcircuit, which is assembled from only 5-6 modules, is a small object, similar in size to a box of matches.
It is inserted directly into the handle of the miter saw and provides a smooth start of electric current into the system. Ready-made microcircuits are already commercially available, so you don’t have to assemble them yourself.
For miter saws, slow start is extremely important for several reasons:
- A powerful engine that starts leads to serious surges in the electrical network.This has a negative impact on the power tool and electrical wiring.
- Brushes wear down quickly without the soft start function on miter saws.
- Slow start reduces shock loads in the mechanical part of the device at the time of start-up. This increases the service life of the tool and ensures its safety.
A useful feature that will reduce the cost of purchasing a new device and keep your hands safe while working with a miter saw.
How to do it yourself?
You can assemble a microcircuit using available drawings from the network, but in this case you will have to work hard to purchase the necessary modules, because they must be purchased exactly at the indicated nominal value. It is much easier to buy a ready-made microcircuit that is “implanted” into a power tool.
The easiest way to install a soft start is to install a module in an extension cord unit. We'll tell you step by step how to do this:
- we disassemble the extension cord housing, giving access to important wires;
- we connect the block to the break of one of the wires using a reliable twist;
- glue the block at a distance from the contact group inside the extension cord housing;
- We assemble the housing with reliable fixation of the wires, preventing them from twisting and crossing.
Any intervention in electrical circuits must be carried out by a technician who has the necessary knowledge of safety precautions and has experience working with electrical wires and systems.
