An air bed for rats can have different shapes, sizes and materials. There are simple models that are made in the form of a canvas, as well as more complex models made in the form of a pipe with entrances and exits, some of them resemble a labyrinth with passages. The latest models are very convenient to use for playing, but they can hardly be called hammocks. Whatever you build, your pet will independently determine why he needs it:

1. Some will rest in a bassinet.
2. Some may simply chew it.
3. Someone will use it for its intended purpose.

• Old bedding that will require folding twice or more.
• Your old unnecessary hat.
• Unnecessary scarves.
• Your unwanted socks can also make a great hammock for your rat.
• Out-of-fashion old woolen hats are sure to please your rodent.

These items can simply be secured in the corner of the cage at a suitable height; keep in mind that the animal must freely climb into this resting place and climb out of it in the same way.

Step-by-step instruction

1. To sew a hammock for a rat, you need to prepare fleece fabric measuring approximately 30 by 60 cm; this will be the base.
2. Fold the short sides of the rectangular fabric 1 cm and sew or topstitch. Already expired edges must be joined in the center. Please note that the right side of the fabric should be on the inside.
3. Sew the long sides along the edges. Turn the product you received inside out and the front side will be in front of you.
4. Place a grommet in one of the corners and mark the location for the future hole.
5. Use small scissors to make a hole, but be careful not to make it too big. Using a hammer and a punch, secure the grommet.
6. Attach curtain hooks and secure the item in the cage. This must be done in such a way that it is convenient for animals to climb into and out of your hammock.
