Connecting the DVR to the Internet via a router
Video surveillance is a good way to protect your property and even your life. A reliable remote “video surveillance” will be able to inform its owner in advance about the impending danger, as well as record all the events that took place under the camera.
With the development of modern technologies, it is possible to install video surveillance even using the usual, without additional protection, Internet and a standard commercial DVR.

Setting up the DVR
The setup process occurs in several stages.
Setting up to work with a static IP address
You need to configure sending a video stream to a static IP address. This address is provided by the Internet company.
The standard address for interacting with the Internet has the following capabilities.
- Has an acceptable signal transmission speed.
- Easily hides in places inaccessible to potential cable “pests”.
Important! Additionally, there is no need to purchase it or waste time searching for this address.
Simple enough Select the “network” item in the registry menu, then the “receive IP automatically” item.
After this, the line for entering information will be filled in with a 10-digit code (address). All that remains is to save the settings and exit the menu.
Outputting the finished image to the final monitor
Sometimes DVR can track the “electronic trail” where the signal is transmitted. This allows you to minimize the likelihood of interception of the video stream by third parties. The likelihood of installing a parallel Internet cable that duplicates the signal is reduced.
In the recorder settings menu it is necessary to indicate the “personal data” of the computer. They can be read from the computer itself: in the “my computer” icon you need the computer hardware code. This will allow the DVR to synchronize with it using your standard, non-interception-protected Internet provider.
After this, all entered data must be saved and the recorder must be rebooted if required by its operating system.
How to set up a router
Correct configuration of the router allows the DVR to operate via remote access. Allows you to send commands remotely.
- To configure it, you need to create your own DDNS server. It is created in the router settings menu as a separate port - DDNS section.
- Then you need to give it “remote access” rights. This item must be activated.
- Encrypted commands can then be sent through the observer's computer to operate the router.
Important! You must enter the IP address of your Internet service provider. The DDNS server will not be able to read it automatically.
This precaution from the manufacturer protects against software hacking. It also does not allow fraudsters to track which server the signal is sent to by automatically replacing data.
After creating a separate DDNS server, you only need to synchronize with the DVR and simply connect to the local network.Ready!
Connection
Connection (the ability to watch what is happening through a CCTV camera) to your computer occurs as remote synchronization with the router.
You just need to go to your personal IP address and read information from it. It looks as if the user simply goes to a standard Internet site. And from there it downloads (in real time) streaming information. The process is reminiscent of watching videos from popular hosting sites.
Advice! You can install specialized video surveillance programs on your computer.
They will help expand the range of possibilities. For example, improve image quality, offer a “hot button” for calling the police, offer the ability to upload archives to cloud storage, and others.
If a computer is used by a security guard, to further enhance his alertness and overall security, such programs can periodically record/check his presence at the post. They will be able to send a request, which they must personally accept by entering a confirmation code.
