The printer prints the same thing over and over again

If you encounter a problem - a relatively new, modern model printer prints one document all the time and does not intend to stop, does not respond to button presses, you need to try to figure it out yourself or contact a specialist.

Reference! It is quite difficult to immediately determine the cause of the malfunction. There can be many reasons for each problem. And in order to be guaranteed to find it, you need to go from simple to complex. Let's figure out why the printer constantly prints the same thing and how to fix it.

Stopping the device

A document sent for work with a large number of sheets can cause a device failure and create problems in the form of idle ink cartridge consumption and sheets of paper. If this happens, there are several ways to stop it.

  • The most effective way is to turn off the device. This can be done with a button, unplugging the power cable from the socket, or emptying the paper tray - this will also stop the operation.
  • You can also disconnect the cable between your computer and the printer. But this will work if the document has not yet been sent to the memory of the printing device itself. Once the connection is restored and the paper is returned, work will resume.

Shutdown

Clearing the print queue

To stop completely, do the following:

Attention! Depending on the version of Windows installed, the names of the items may differ. But the principle is the same.

  1. Start Menu - Control Panel
  2. In the window that opens, select “Hardware and Sound” - “Devices and Printers” - “Printers and Faxes”. Here is a list of all previously installed printing devices. Select the active printer/MFP (there is a green checkmark opposite it).
  3. We right-click on the printer, in the menu that opens - “View print queue”
  4. In the window that opens, we see all the documents that were sent for printing. We delete them and clear the print queue.

That's it, now your device is ready for further operation.

Printing continues after the queue is cleared

It may be like this - the queue is reset to zero (checked several times), the tray is filled - the device starts working at a frantic pace. Removing paper stops; adding paper continues working. And there are still no files in the queue. What to do, how to stop it?

A possible reason is that the document was sent too large in size or many copies were specified. And the window does not show the number of documents to be printed, because the device itself has a certain memory buffer where documents sent for printing are dumped. At the same time, they are deleted from the computer’s memory - they have already been printed for it, and the printer continues to perform the task. For him it has not been cancelled.

  1. RebootTo stop the device, it must be restarted. Turn off the power supply, wait a few minutes, then turn it on. If this does not help to stop printing, then we also restart the computer. We count down a few minutes and turn it on.
  2. If this does not cool the desire of the device to work, then we resort to extreme measures.First, we check how much the latest driver costs, and if necessary, update it through the manufacturer’s website. The second thing to do is try to completely remove and then reinstall the printer.

Important! Install only the drivers from the disk included with the device or take them from the manufacturer’s official website. This will greatly simplify the work and eliminate many problems.

We have reviewed the simplest ways to combat the incorrect operation of the device. If all else fails, contact a specialist.
