How to reset the printer
It just so happens that a modern computer is difficult to imagine without a device such as a printer. And indeed, what is the point of accumulating documents, articles, photographs on a computer - if there is no banal opportunity to present them as a copy on hard media.
This is precisely the opportunity that a printing device provides. However, it often happens that he begins to live his own life and periodically refuses to work. No matter how hard we try to print something, the result is zero. In this case, you need to try rebooting the device.
To reboot any device, just one click of a button is enough. To do this, you need to open the utility that is responsible for the work and in the “FILE” menu find the “Restart” item. After this, it is enough to confirm the intention of your choice and wait for the operation to complete. The result of the operation should be to reset all settings to factory settings. If something in the user’s settings was completely incorrect, then this operation will correct everything.

Why do I need to reboot the printer?
The need to reboot may occur due to various reasons. This includes print failure, loading for printing after a paper jam and its removal. The need to restart the device after refilling the cartridge. Similar reasons can be listed almost endlessly.
In the most basic case, it is enough to press the button of the device and it will restart, but sometimes this cannot be done and the device continues to refuse to work as it should. In other words, it doesn't work at all.
If it happens that the printer refuses to print, then first of all pay attention to the following points:
- is the device connected to the power supply or to the computer;
- are all drivers installed?
- if printing is done to a network device, is the local network configured?
If everything that is listed is in perfect order, it is very possible that the device has refused to work, since a large number of documents have accumulated in its print queue. This is a fairly common case and always leads to printing failure.
The reason that leads to this is completely unknown, but the solution is very simple. You just need to clear the print queue.
To do this, you need to go to the “control panel”, find “Printers” there, find the installed device and go to “View the print queue”. There you will see a bunch of all sorts of rubbish - this is precisely the reason for the failure.
Next you need to do the following:
- The printer should be unplugged for a while.
- The computer needs to be restarted.
- If after the PC has been rebooted there are still files left in the print queue, then you need to select the document or documents and right-click to call up the menu in which we select the “Cancel” item.
Once everything is cleared, work should resume.
Instructions on how to restart the printer
Sometimes it is not necessary to simply reboot the printer, which usually does not cause difficulties even for inexperienced users, but it is necessary to reboot the counter or reset it to zero. This need arises after refilling the print cartridge.
The problem is that neither laser nor inkjet printers have built-in hardware capabilities to keep track of the amount of ink remaining. To maintain such records, software methods are used. All information is stored on the cartridge chip. And after it is filled, this information must be erased. In other words, reboot or reset.
When the reset process is completed, the information is not deleted on the device itself, but on the cartridge chip. Many refueling kits include a special microboard, which should be used to replace the old one.
Inkjet color printers usually have several such chips, depending on the number of cartridges used. And on each one this microcircuit must be replaced. Otherwise, normal use of refilled cartridges will simply be impossible, since the printer will continue to think that the ink has run out.
With laser devices everything is a little simpler.
- The first step is to remove the toner cartridge.
- Use your finger to press the zero sensor, which is located inside the printer. It can be found inside the device on the left side. It is accessible through the paper feed tray.
- Next you need to close the cover of the printing device
- The sensor must be kept pressed until the device engine starts.
- As soon as the engine starts, release the sensor and after two seconds press it again until the engine stops.
- Wait until the device is ready
- You can now install the toner cartridge
- This completes the reboot of the print cartridge.
