Is it possible to charge a tablet using a phone charger?
With the development of digital technologies, every person now, as a rule, has at least one gadget at home, and often their number can reach a huge number: smartphones, tablets, players, smart watches and much more. Unfortunately, the topic of wireless charging is still not widespread, so every electronic device comes with a wired charger.
The latter, alas, are characterized by low strength and often fail. And considering that most manufacturers now produce tablets and phones with the same connector (usually microUSB), at this moment the question arises: is it possible to charge one gadget using the charger of another? The answer to this is ambiguous: both yes and no.
Is it harmful to charge a tablet using a phone charger?
It is technically possible to charge the tablet using a phone charger. But sometimes you can make exceptions, for example, in situations like this:
- Unexpected breakdown of the original charger;
- A short trip on which you need to take several gadgets at once, but every piece of luggage is valuable.
Important! You shouldn’t constantly be hooked up and charge everything with one wire. This method is only suitable for a few times when it is urgently needed.
The fact is that the battery of a tablet is larger and more powerful than that of a phone. Accordingly, its charger usually provides a current strength approximately twice as high as that of ordinary smartphones. Therefore, charging the tablet using a wire from the phone has the following disadvantages:
- slower battery charge than with the original device;
- If you simultaneously work on the tablet while it is connected to power, a short circuit may occur, which will render the charger unusable.
The current strength of the charger is necessarily indicated on it: usually for a phone it is 1 A, and for a tablet - 2.1 A. Fortunately, modern manufacturers have taken this problem into account and, in order to solve it, began to produce smart chargers for all gadgets with the same current strength is more than 2 A. They are able to independently assess how to safely and quickly charge the connected device.
Important! Not all chargers yet have this function, so before use you need to read the instructions for each newly purchased gadget.
