At first glance, the easiest and most reliable way is to simply disassemble the laptop and look at the markings on the board to determine its model. In fact, to get to the treasured inscription, you may need to almost completely disassemble the laptop, because in a compact device all the elements are intertwined with each other. For an inexperienced user, this procedure may take several hours.

And time is not the main criterion here. With one careless movement, you can easily damage the board or other important element. There are several reasons for deciding to disassemble a laptop:

1. The laptop does not turn on or the image does not appear on the screen.
2. Software methods did not help.
3. There was a need to replace internal elements.

Simultaneously press the “Win” + “R” keys, then in the window that appears, in the “Run” line enter the request “cmd”. This can also be done through the “Start” menu, in the “Search” line. In the Windows 10 operating system, the console can be called up by right-clicking on the Start menu and selecting the appropriate item.

Then, in the console itself, you need to enter the command “wmic baseboard get manufacturer”, the result of its execution will be the name of the manufacturer. To find out the model, enter the command “wmic baseboard get product”.

Here is a short list of steps to determine the motherboard model via the console:

1. Press the key combination “Win” + “R”.
2. Enter the query “cmd”
3. Enter the commands “wmic baseboard get manufacturer” and “wmic baseboard get product”.

If more detailed information is required, additional software can be used. One of the most popular options is AIDA64. Thanks to it, you can see not only the motherboard model, but also many other characteristics, for example, the temperature of various elements or the amount of RAM.

The advantage of this program is its functionality, but, unfortunately, it is paid, and the free version has some limitations. But even in the free version, you can find out all the necessary information. You can download it from the official website. And after installing it, the name of the motherboard and all data about it will be in the “Motherboard” tab.

A simpler and free program is “CPU-Z”. Its volume is only a few megabytes and you can download it, also from the official website. It does not require configuration and can be used immediately after installation. The downside of this program is that the interface is not very user-friendly.

There are several other similar programs, for example:

But for the most part, their functions duplicate each other - there is no difference which program to use.

Another way is to use the manufacturer’s website. But to do this, you need to know exactly the model of your laptop. We go to the manufacturer’s website and look for the “Support” tab on it; on the English version of the site it is “Support”. Sometimes it is “hidden” in another tab, for example “Service”.

After going to the support page, you will see a window. Here you should enter your laptop model. After which you will receive detailed information about your device.
