How to connect a laptop to a music center
Laptops rarely boast high-quality sound. This is usually due to the fact that the playback device is located inside the computer. In such cases, a music center comes to the rescue. It is capable of reproducing high-quality sounds from most modern devices. But it is necessary to connect and configure.

What you need to connect
To connect you only need 3 things:
- Laptop.
- A music player that supports the AUX system (more than 90 percent of devices, even old ones, can support it).
- Adapter cable with bells (also called tulips).
What difficulties may arise
Usually there are no connection problems. We just need to insert the plugs into the corresponding sockets. If the sound does not play, check that the tulips are connected correctly. Red should be in the red port, and white in the white port. If the wire is too short and the distance between the devices is large, and the adapter has to be pulled, problems with sound quality may occur. You just need to choose a cable that is long enough (these are sold in computer stores).
If you are sure that everything is connected correctly, something may be broken. The reason may be the following:
- The laptop port is not working. Just connect headphones to it, if they work, then the reason is different.
- One of the connectors on the music center is broken. Try connecting another device instead of your laptop.
- Problems with the cable. Here one of the channels or the plug may be damaged. But the most common problem is stuck contacts.
Step-by-step connection of a music center
To connect, you only need a laptop, a music player and a tulip adapter cable (the length of the cable depends on the distance between the devices). The adapter should have one jack plug on one side and two tulips on the other. Such cables are sold in radio electronics and computer stores. The adapter costs from 70 to 250 rubles.
Typically the tulip plugs are red and white and are responsible for the audio channels. The adapter itself is made of two wires that are glued together, or in the form of one cable. But in the latter case, there are still two channels, they are just thin and located inside the shell.
Important! Each of the wires is responsible for a specific audio channel (right and left). The jack plug is shaped like a metal pencil. The standard jack is 3.5 mm, but there are also 2.5. 3.5 is used for headphones that connect to players or modern smartphones.
You should also consider the length of the cable so that there is no tension.
The device is connected to the laptop as follows:
- We need to insert the jack into the laptop. To do this, use the connector where headphones are connected (usually there is a headphone symbol next to it).
- Tulips must be connected to a music player. There will be connectors that should match our plugs in color (red and white).
- Now you need to configure. Just turn on AUS on the player. This will allow sound signals to be transmitted from the laptop to the music center.
- You can listen to music.
Connecting is easy. The most important thing is to follow all the rules and recommendations.
