Why does the monitor not turn on after sleep mode?
Usually, when such a problem occurs, the user first of all thinks that he made some kind of mistake, which led to the failure of the system unit or some part of it. Or the monitor or video card malfunctioned. The second option is quite common, but there are other reasons why the monitor does not turn on after exiting standby mode. These include the following possible options:
- the video card is not connected correctly to the motherboard;
- drivers do not work correctly;
- the monitor or video card has broken down;
- the BIOS was configured incorrectly;
- the operating system firmware version is outdated;
- system files were damaged;
- Sleep and hibernation modes do not work.
In addition to the reasons listed above, various malicious programs - viruses - can lead to such consequences. Some of them affect the monitor through drivers.For example, if all the incoming energy is concentrated at one point on the display, the device may fail.
How to solve a problem with the monitor after waking up from sleep mode
First of all, you need to check whether the device wires are intact and whether the video card is connected correctly to the motherboard. You can also check the performance of the monitor by connecting it to another system unit. If none of the above allowed us to establish the reason why the monitor does not wake up, then you need to forcefully turn off the system unit and reboot it.
ATTENTION! When the power is turned off, the standby mode is reset.
The next step is to check the video card. This can be done using special programs. They show the presence of any adapter faults. This could be a lack of power or an overheating video card. However, most often the problem occurs due to incorrectly installed graphics adapter drivers. In this case, they must be removed and reinstalled by downloading them from the official website of the video card manufacturer. It is also advisable to update all existing drivers using special official programs.
If no problems are found when checking the video card, then you need to check the BIOS.
To do this, you need to enter it using a special key combination. You need to look for the Advanced tab and in it the Power Off Energy Saving item. If this item is turned off, you need to turn it on and, if possible, set a balanced power mode. Also, the fact that the monitor does not turn on may be due to outdated BIOS firmware. In this case, you need to write the updated version to an external recording device and update the BIOS manually through the “Update” item.
If hibernation is used for sleep mode, it should be turned off. To do this, you need to run the command line strictly as an administrator. Then enter “powercfg - h off”. If you replace “off” with “on” in the command, hibernation will be activated and normal sleep mode will be turned off.
ATTENTION! To prevent the situation from reoccurring, you need to update all drivers on the device and turn off “Go to sleep mode” in the power settings of the system unit.
It is also advisable to set the standby mode in the form of hibernation, which has several advantages:
- in the event of a sudden power outage, all data is saved;
- The computer boots quickly enough.
When using this mode, there are no problems that may arise when using the “Sleep” mode.
Why do you have problems with your PC?
Due to the fact that system units have a huge number of different configuration options, there are also many reasons for breakdowns. This is affected by unlicensed versions of the operating system, an uninstalled anti-virus program, as well as incorrectly working or outdated drivers, various and most often pirated software. All of this, taken together or individually, leads to a malfunction of the system unit, including the fact that the monitor does not turn on after the “Sleep” mode.
If the monitor does not turn on, then how to check the firewood and so on? The system unit is new.
I set the power settings to default. The monitor jamb has disappeared. Win 10 pro x64.
