How to check the inverter on the monitor
An inverter is a device that converts direct current into alternating current and changes the voltage. If it fails, the voltage cannot be adjusted and a breakdown occurs. There are several ways to determine that the inverter is faulty (most of all they relate to the loss of the backlight or image). Repairs will vary depending on the problem.

How to check monitor inverter
There are several faults that may affect the inverter:
- The backlight does not turn on.
- The lamp turns on for a few seconds and then turns off.
- Brightness instability.
- The image blinks constantly.
- The image appears and then disappears (it can work without interruption for several days, then stop, and then start working again).
As you can see, all of the above malfunctions relate to the image or backlight. They cannot work if the voltage is not adjusted correctly. This is how you can determine that the inverter is faulty.
Reference! You can check the inverter by inspecting visual damage. If there are none, try connecting another light bulb. This way it will be possible to determine that this particular part is faulty.
What kind of malfunctions can there be?
There are several faults that may affect the inverter:
- Thin stripes all over the screen. The contact between the matrix crystal and the loop board was broken. Repair is not possible.
- Wide stripes all over the screen. Broken contacts of the cable, control board or microcircuits. Restoration is not possible.
- The image flashes. Incorrect supply voltage.
- The monitor turns on and off whenever it wants. The failure concerns the capacitors (it could swell) and the stabilizer.
- No backlight. Damage to one of the parts responsible for the lighting.
- There is no response to button presses. Damage to the cable or buttons.
- There is a backlight, but no image, just a white screen. The matrix is not receiving power.
How to repair it yourself
If we can determine that the problem concerns the inverter, we need to disassemble the device and check for external damage on the board. We do the following:
- If swollen electrolytes are detected, they must be replaced.
- Now turn on the device. If the problem persists, the inverter needs to be repaired. It is important to return the tension to normal.
There may be several reasons for the malfunction:
- The inverter fuse has blown.
- There is no voltage coming through the power supply.
- The transistors are broken.
- Damage to capacitors.
After checking, you need to try to turn on the device again.
Now we determine how well the backlight works. For this:
- Disconnect the cable from the matrix. This is necessary so that current does not flow to the matrix.
- Now turn it on and see how the matrix lights up. We need to see shades that differ from normal white (if there are any, we can definitely say that the problem is in the backlight). If we see red or black shades, the lamp must be replaced. If the lamp is faulty, the inverter's protection is triggered.
- There are times when the lamp does not light up at all. Here the inverter connectors are transferred, and the lamp is connected to other channels of the part. You can replace the old lamp with a new one. If it also does not work, the cause of the failure concerns the transformer.
Attention! There can be two transformers per lamp, or there can be only one. We take a tester to check the resistance. If it exceeds 50 ohms, the product must be replaced.
When to contact specialists
The first case is if it is necessary to replace a faulty lamp. The problem concerns not the difficulty of replacement, but the fact that the same lamp is difficult to find. The masters already have experience in solving such problems, and they will definitely advise something.
The second is if the capacitor is swollen and a short circuit occurs. This could damage not one, but several parts of the TV at once. It is better to entrust the check to specialists, especially since you can be sure that the fuse has blown.
And the last, most important problem is if the user does not understand anything about the design of the TV. He doesn't know what parts it's made of or where they are. It is better to take the TV to a service center.
You can repair the inverter yourself if a person has experience working with televisions and knows their structure.
