How to hang a monitor on the wall
There are a great variety of brackets for mounting monitors on a vertical wall. They are all different in design, in the method of fastening, in reliability, and in the possibility of using them to work with certain devices. But there is one strict requirement - the monitor connectors must be located either on the end parts, or in a place where they are accessible after strengthening. Otherwise, you simply won’t be able to use it, or the mounting features should be such that this issue does not arise.
Industry in different countries produces three main types of monitor brackets. This list includes:
- rigid type mount;
- inclined mount;
- rotating mechanism.
They all work differently, and the choice is large enough that you can place any monitor on the wall. So far, the most popular bracket model is Vesa.

How to hang a computer monitor correctly?
When installing brackets and placing the monitor close to the wall, there are several important factors to consider. The main thing is that all the main connectors and controls of the device are accessible. If they are not located as they should, rigid fastening cannot be used. In this case, it will simply be impossible to use the monitor.
But then a swivel bracket will work well, which will allow you to achieve some degrees of freedom.
REFERENCE! An inclined bracket is a device that allows you to adjust the vertical angle of the monitor. It is convenient to adjust it to eye level, and also to avoid glare from lighting or sunlight. Typically, such a device is mounted 10-15 cm from the wall.
The most functional is the swivel bracket. You can customize it as you wish with your own hands regarding the user’s location. But, as usual, this is also the most expensive solution; the rigid and inclined options cost much less.
At first glance, the monitor is not a very heavy device; if the bracket is fastened well, any accidents are impossible. But this is a deceptive impression; dowels and other fasteners very often simply turn out from the wall, with sad consequences for the glass device, which will not withstand this. To insure against such a situation, long bolts are used that go right through the wall and are fastened with a plate on the opposite side, and then some definite safety guarantees will be available.
We must also remember that not all monitors have a device for attaching to any devices. Then you need to carefully select a mechanism that, for example, can hold the screen on the sides or top and bottom.
IMPORTANT! The reliability of mounting the monitor itself is also important. This is one of the weakest points and often fails under load. Therefore, you should be especially careful when working.
It should also be remembered that each bracket has limitations in weight and size.This must be taken into account when planning to purchase a particular fastening mechanism.
How to prepare the monitor for the bracket?
On many models of modern monitors there are special holes for attaching the bracket. They are located on the back wall in a certain order, and their location should be taken into account when selecting the fastening mechanism. To hang the monitor on the wall, you need to remove or drill out the plugs from these holes. Work should be carried out carefully so as not to damage the boards and other important parts of the monitor.
Mounting a computer monitor to a vertical wall requires some experience with power tools. In this case, you may need an electric drill with an impact mechanism, a hammer drill, or another more serious tool. They must be equipped with appropriate consumables, for example, a special drill for concrete. The diameter of the latter must be selected taking into account the characteristics of the bracket. It is also necessary to prepare a very small amount of gypsum or cement solution in the usual construction version in order to erase the marks that will remain after punching holes.
So, after the hole is ready, a dowel is inserted into it. The next step is to attach the plate, which all brackets must have. It is screwed to the dowels with screws and self-tapping screws, which are necessarily included in the fastening mechanism kit. After this, it remains to mount on the wall the part of the device intended directly for mounting the monitor.
The next step is to screw the monitor. It is especially important to very carefully monitor the strength of the fasteners, identify weak points in a timely manner, and eliminate them.
After installing the monitor on the wall, you should periodically check that it is securely mounted and make adjustments if necessary. In this case, the entire structure will last a long time and will not cause damage to a rather expensive device.
