How to refill an MFP with a refillable cartridge
Not everyone knows that manufacturers most often equip their printers with so-called demonstration cartridges, the volume of which, compared to working cartridges, is quite small. Some time after such a purchase, the printer user will be forced to buy a new cartridge, the cost of which often cannot be called low.
Therefore, it is not surprising that many people prefer to purchase counterfeit cartridges or refill them manually. However, refilling is carried out differently depending on the types of devices. Currently, there are inkjet, laser and dot matrix printers on the market.
Since matrix printing devices are used for certain printing purposes (printing cash register receipts, receipts), this article will focus on filling the seal on laser and inkjet devices.

How to refill a refillable inkjet printer cartridge yourself
The low price of the device and access to full color printing explain the popularity of color printers used for home and office printing. When printing intensively, ink in this technique runs out quite quickly, and the cartridges begin to require refilling.
IMPORTANT! Fading or fading of the image is the first sign that the inkjet printing device will soon stop working.
Before you start refueling, you should acquire the following simple tools:
- thick cotton wool or cotton pads;
- several syringes with needles (the number of syringes must correspond to the number of colors the device prints with);
- stationery knife;
- ink;
- empty cartridge;
- gloves and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty;
- napkins or newspaper.
IMPORTANT! Refilling is best done immediately after the printer runs out of ink or before the device fails. Otherwise, ink residue may dry inside the cartridge, making it difficult or completely limiting its operation.
In order to start refilling, the device is placed on the napkins with the print head down. Having gained access to the printer's filling chambers, you need to prepare syringes with paint. When filling the syringe with ink, you should ensure that there is no air or foam in it. The needle is driven quite deep into the filling hole, but do not overdo it and insert the needle further than 2-3 cm.
Once the needle is inserted, you should begin injecting the ink very slowly. When refilling is complete, ink will appear in the refill hole. If suddenly there is only one syringe for “injections”, you can wash it and the needle each time with distilled water, but it will be much more reliable to use a new syringe. Excess ink must be removed with a cotton pad, and the holes must be sealed with tape or a sticker placed on them. The tape over the holes will need to be pierced with a needle.
Instructions for refilling the sealing cap of a laser printer
Laser MFPs are the choice of users for whom print quality is paramount. It can be difficult to refill such printers yourself, but for many, given the prices of new cartridges, this remains the only option.
As an example, the following will show the sequence of actions when refilling the safety valve of a Brother device.
To refill you will need:
- Screwdriver Set;
- a pair of rubber gloves;
- new toner.
The screws on the left side of the toner cover are unscrewed. Then you need to dismantle the cover, carefully using a screwdriver to pry off the protective film. Next, you should dismantle all the gears you see except one.
Then you need to remove the stopper to the left of the gear, which remains in place. On the opposite side, the shaft is secured with another screw, which also needs to be unscrewed. After this, the transfer roller can be pulled out and the toner removed using a special vacuum cleaner. A new toner is installed in place of the removed one, and all disassembled parts are assembled and installed in the reverse order. It would be a good idea to wipe down each part before installing it in place.
The printer with the replaced toner should be checked in test print mode.
