What is duplex in MFPs
Often you need to print a document on both sides and spend as little time as possible on it. When using conventional printers or MFPs, the first step is to print the text on one side, then turn the sheet over and do the same on the other page. But, this process can be simplified using the duplex function.

What is duplex technology in printers?
The duplex function allows you to perform double-sided printing without human intervention in this process. A printer with this technology can be called a machine that, during operation, does not issue a command about the need to turn the sheet over.
Duplex operation does not involve turning the sheet over, but rather returning the paper along an alternative path so that it faces the opposite side to the toner. The sheet then passes through the heating element and drum again. As a result of such a simple operation, the image appears on the other side.
The operation of such equipment is extremely simple and is no different from the rules for using conventional laser and inkjet printers. Visually, equipment with duplex functionality looks familiar and does not take up more space than would be required by another device of a similar configuration.
IMPORTANT! This printer is perfect for those who print documents and images constantly and in large quantities. It is ideal for those who try not to waste a minute while working. While the printer is printing and turning pages, you can do other work on your computer in the office or at home.
Features of duplex in MFPs
All MFPs have an automatic feed function. This technology allows you to continuously supply paper to the device and print, scan and copy. Automatic feed in modern devices can be one- or two-sided. In multifunctional devices using duplex, the latter option is most often found. Such MFPs are called reversible.
This functionality means that the sheets are fed and turned over automatically by the machine. This makes the work process easier.
It is important to note that such devices have a significant disadvantage - cost. As a rule, the price of reversible MFPs exceeds the price of ordinary ones by 1.5-2 times. However, for people who often use such devices, this will be a minor drawback and the expense will quickly pay for itself.
In addition, such multifunctional devices require a special stand or cabinet, since it will take up quite a lot of space on the table.
How to do duplex printing
Duplex printing in various types of devices can be automatic and semi-automatic.
In the first case, before you start printing, you should set the duplex printing parameters, including the page layout of sheets and their format. As a rule, the operation of printing on one side and then on the other is done with the first sheet first. After this, a new sheet is captured, with which a similar operation is performed. In other cases, you can easily configure this process in additional sections.
As for the second type of printing, it is divided into built-in and software versions. When using the first type, you can start working immediately after connecting the device to the network and installing the MFP driver. If there is none, then you should start looking for specialized software.
The following points must be followed:
- For duplex printing, you must set the page number. To do this, select "Insert", "Page Number" and the location of the number.
- Afterwards, check the fields on the page and their mirror arrangement. To do this, click on “Page Layout”, “Margins” and “Mirror Margins”.
- In the “Print” section, select “Double-sided printing” and select “Print” to confirm the operation.
If you often print documents and images, do it in large quantities, on both sides, and do not want to spend a huge amount of precious time on this process, then a device with a duplex function is created just for you! Choose the option you need and work with pleasure!
