How to connect a mouse to a tablet

It’s hard to imagine the modern world without gadgets – some people need them for work, others spend their free time using them. A tablet cannot completely replace a full-fledged computer or laptop, but for certain tasks it is quite suitable. In most devices, control occurs by touching your hand, but for the convenience of working with some programs and games, it is convenient to use a mouse. How to connect the pointing device to the tablet, what needs to be done for this, we will tell you in this article.

Connecting the mouse + tablet

The following methods are usually used to correctly synchronize (connect) mice + tablet:

• Using cable;
• Using infrared, Bluetooth technology;
• Connection using the Wi-Fi wireless protocol.

There are also ways to connect a tablet and a manipulator, but they are complex, and to perform them you need to have certain knowledge and skills, so they will not be discussed here.

Each method has its pros and cons - the choice of method is entirely yours. Let's look at each method in more detail.

How to connect a wired mouse

In this case, there is a direct, physical connection between the tablet + mouse via a cable. With this connection, the main and necessary requirement is the presence of a USB port on the gadget (for Windows OS), microUSB (Android).

IMPORTANT: Windows tablets are most often equipped with a standard USB port, so you just need to plug in the mouse and you can work.For Android devices, you will have to additionally buy an adapter - they most often have a microUSB connector.

But there are still a number of requirements that must be met for smooth operation:

• The device must be able to connect a mouse
• The tablet must support USB OTG (On-The-Go) technology, which allows you to connect peripheral equipment directly, without using a computer.
• The necessary drivers must be installed on it
• For proper adaptation at the software level, the mouse must meet all the requirements of the gadget’s hardware platform.

One of the main advantages of such a connection is that you are well aware of how correctly the devices are paired at a given time. The connection speed is limited by the slowest device, i.e. capabilities of the manipulator. When choosing this method, keep this in mind.

The downside is again the wires, which limit freedom of movement and create some discomfort.

How to connect a wireless mouse

Using an infrared port, Bluetooth technology / The most common method if you do not want to have problems with wires, connectors, ports. First you need to enable synchronization: “connect” them to each other, if this was not done automatically.

Actions required for this:

• In the settings of the tablet or manipulator, enable the Bluetooth function and infrared port;
• We fulfill the requirements of a mobile assistant.

Note: Now only older models use an infrared port, although it has a number of undeniable advantages. Almost every device is equipped with Bluetooth technology, with a new version coming out every year. Synchronization is only possible for models with one version or a larger one (on a tablet) with a smaller one (on a mouse).

Wi-Fi connection

Another way you can “make friends” between two devices. It is much more complex and confusing than the first two. For them to work correctly, a number of requirements must be met. Moreover, if at least one of them is not completed, then you can forget about the work.

The connection algorithm is quite complex; it is sometimes accessible only to trained users. Finding a mouse that supports this protocol is also problematic. It is advisable to use only when there are no other options.

If in the first case there should be no problems, then with a wireless connection the algorithm is as follows:

• We turn on the manipulator, the wireless connection function (Bluetooth) on the gadget;
• Let's activate the settings. We limit the devices that can be seen by peripheral machines. Check the box next to “Visible only for connected devices”;
• An automatic search is carried out for all devices within the coverage area. As soon as the mouse is detected, you will see a notification about it. You will need to enter the appropriate code. The default is four zeros;
• Synchronizing the mouse and tablet. If the correct set of code numbers is entered, an arrow cursor will appear on the screen. This confirms that you have made the connection correctly.

This completes the process. Now you have a new manipulator that will make it easier and more convenient to use when working with your tablet. If it has a large enough screen diagonal, then the work will be no worse than with a laptop.
