DIY speaker stands
When buying new speakers, you want them to stand alone and not be crowded onto a computer desk that already has little space. Often new acoustics are much larger than the old ones, which causes placement problems. The way out of this situation is speaker stands. Thanks to them, the speakers will stand apart from other gadgets, and accordingly the sound will be cleaner and better.

Materials and tools
The materials required for the stands are as follows:
- Stainless steel pipe. Diameter 50-70 millimeters, as you like. They will act as legs.
- Dye. When choosing a paint, it is necessary to take into account the type of wood, operating conditions, and compatibility with coatings (drying oil, varnish).
- Screwdriver. But a screwdriver is better.
- Chipboard or wood sheet. The thickness must be at least 40 millimeters, otherwise the shelf may not support the equipment.
- Fastening for legs. You shouldn’t skimp on this; it’s better to buy metal fasteners rather than plastic ones, which are fragile and can break from the slightest mechanical impact.
- Wood drill. The size corresponds to the diameter of the screws.
You can use not only chipboard, but also solid wood, and in addition it will cost less. You need to make preliminary measurements to know how much material to buy for the tables.
The material for the nightstands can be purchased either in a long tube and cut to size yourself, or you can buy a kit.It makes more sense to buy a kit because it will cost less effort and time, and it will probably be cheaper.
The choice of paint is an individual decision. It is best to choose a paint that will harmonize with the speakers. It is also important to take into account the characteristics of the wood. The approximate cost is 200 rubles. If you buy additional varnish, then another 150 rubles.
Rack mounts can be found at a hardware store. Approximate cost: 300 rubles.
Screws and drill. The approximate cost is 100 rubles. Screws must be chosen to match the color of the posts, unless they are painted.
Reference! The total cost of all purchases does not exceed 1800 rubles. But it is possible that it will cost less, because some materials are available at home.
Stands for speakers yourself: step-by-step instructions
To make racks with your own hands, you need to do the following:
- If you took a pipe, cut it according to measurements (4 posts), and if you took a kit, then you need to remove the plastic plugs. Because the mount is designed in such a way that the tube is pushed onto it, and a screw is tightened to open the plastic and secure the pipe.
- A sheet of wood is sawn into 4 parts. The platforms must be made in pairs of equal size. Some are larger than others, those that will be installed more on the floor, so to give greater stability, they must be larger in area. The dimensions of the upper shelves where the speakers will be located should correspond to the widest and longest parts. This way everything will look harmonious.
- Fasteners are applied and marks are made where holes for screws need to be made. This must be done with precision.
- Holes are made according to the marks made.
- Then the wooden blanks are coated with paint. And after drying, varnish is applied. Apply 2-4 layers of paint. It's better to take your time and let each layer dry completely. To speed up the drying process, you can use a hair dryer.
- After drying, plastic plugs are placed in the holes into which the self-tapping screws will be screwed.
- The rack mount is screwed onto the dried shelves.
- Stands are made, and if everything is satisfactory, then the tubes are fixed. It is very important that the top shelf is level relative to the floor, otherwise the speakers will roll off and fall to the floor due to vibrations. Thus, they may distort the sound or even break down.
- Felt pads are glued to the canvas that will stand on the floor. They are used to prevent sound from vibrating into the floor. Also, this significantly increases stability and reduces the chance of the speakers tipping over.
Important! The speakers should be at ear level or slightly higher. This way the sound is better.
If the equipment is too powerful, then it is necessary to take care of sound insulation so as not to inconvenience neighbors. As a rule, the insulation is placed a few centimeters from the wall opposite the speakers.
The disadvantages of making stands and podiums include that the equipment cannot produce low frequencies at altitude.
Summarizing the above, we can conclude that there is nothing difficult to make speaker stands yourself. At the same time, spend a small amount of money. Thanks to the stands, the speakers can be placed anywhere in the room, taking into account all the acoustic features of the room.
