R3 button on PS4 joystick

R3 button on PS4 joystickConsoles use joysticks for their controls. This is a manipulative device that provides the player with the ability to control his actions within the game. This object can be separated from the console itself and used elsewhere. If there are several players in the game, each of them will need a separate joystick.

Let's figure out how the buttons on the PS4 joystick are located. This will help you find them, even if there are no instructions in Russian.

Joystick button layout

The controller from PlayStaion 4 (also called DualShock 4) has become more rounded compared to previous models. This should make management more convenient. Its component elements have become more compact, which will also benefit its use.

location

REFERENCE! In addition to the keys, it has a touch panel, LEDs, a speaker, a headphone jack, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, a vibration device and a sensor for reading the position of the joystick in space.

A joystick (or gamepad) uses keys as manipulation tools. They are located along the entire front surface of the device, as well as on the sides. This is necessary so that the player can conveniently manipulate them during the game using his fingers, holding the remote control in both hands. Standard buttons are not difficult to find. Their purpose does not raise questions, but some require careful consideration.

The touchpad duplicates Start/Select, but its capabilities allow you to make movements more flexibly. The panel with sensors perceives not only clicks, but also the duration of the delay and the shape of the movement. Its most common use: entering numbers, since previously you had to select them from a list using the d-pad and press “Select”.

Where is the R3 key on the PS4 joystick?

Buttons like L# and R# provide additional, auxiliary functions. Two of them are located on the side plane of the gamepad.

IMPORTANT! If you hold the device straight in front of you, R1 and R2 will appear above the cross with images of a triangle, square, circle and cross.

These buttons are easy to reach with your index finger, provided the user is holding the controller correctly, of course.

On a gamepad with shape keys labeled 1, 2, 3, and 4, L1, L2, R1, and R2 are labeled 5, 6, 7, and 8, respectively. Regardless of the designation, the buttons are easy to find by their location.

The location of the R3 button is not standard, which is why many people cannot find it. Directly pressing the right stick (the large round key located under the D-pad with geometric shapes) counts as pressing the R3 button.

where are the buttons

L3 button

As for the L3 button, its location is similar to the previous key. If you press exactly on the stick located under the cross with the directions of movements, the system will perceive this as using the L3 button.

A distinctive feature of this family of keys is their functionality. The developers have provided a variety of reactions depending on the pressure applied.

PS button

The button with the PlayStation logo serves as a kind of functional duplication of the Start/Select button. Pressing it will take the player to the console interface or to the main menu, from where you can, for example, turn off the gaming station or simply exit the game.

It is located in the center of the gamepad and has an image of the Sony PS logo on it. It's hard to make a mistake.

LT key

button assignmentLT is a symbol for a key that is located at the end of the gamepad, above the cross. They have already been mentioned in this article, since their common names are L1 and L2.

IMPORTANT! If a designation with the letter T is mentioned anywhere, it means that it does not matter which of the two keys is pressed.

In the case of RT, you should follow the same tactics.

Location of keys R1, R2, L1, L2, LT

We have already discussed each of the buttons separately above.

The R1 and R2 buttons (can also be designated 5 and 7) are located at the end of the gamepad, above the keys with images of geometric shapes (square, triangle, cross, circle, or numbers from one to four).

Accordingly, L1 and L2 (6 and 8) are located on the left side, above the cross to indicate the direction of movement.

In the new version of the joystick, the direction buttons are four separate pieces of plastic. And in the old ones there is a single cross. LT and RT are another designation for a pair of buttons on the end, so you need to look for them there.
