PS3 does not see the joystick without a wire

Many gamers have a PS3 game console in their arsenal. Its good quality is surprisingly combined with capriciousness. One of the problems that you often encounter is that the console refuses to recognize the joystick. Let's try to figure out the problem.

Why doesn't PS3 see the joystick without a wire?

Why doesn't PS3 see the joystick without a wire?It's no secret that playing computer games using a keyboard and mouse is not always convenient, and even more so if they are wired devices. Being constantly tied to one place gets in the way. And if you also take into account the fact that game consoles are most often used in conjunction with televisions, it is not particularly convenient to sit near a large screen, straining your eyesight. This is why wireless gamepads have become especially popular.

However, the set-top box often refuses to recognize joysticks when connected wirelessly. What could be causing this? In fact, there may be several reasons:

  • The gamepad does not work;
  • USB ports do not work.

How to fix the problem

Why doesn't PS3 see the joystick without a wire?Checking the functionality of the gamepad. Before you start fiddling with the console and looking for faults in it, let’s check whether the joystick itself works. Just because the power light on it is on when it's connected to the console doesn't mean it's working properly. The light comes on when current is supplied to the gamepad. The only verification option is to connect to another device. If the gamepad is detected on the test device, then problems should be looked for in the console itself.

Checking the USB ports. Modern joysticks are connected to consoles via USB. There are two types of connection possible: via cable and aerial. An air connection uses a Bluetooth connection. But even in this case, working USB ports are needed, because the adapter needs to be connected to them.

To check them, you can simply insert any flash drive. A non-working port and a flash drive are not recognized.

If you have a wireless joystick, then it is likely that the Bluetooth module may have failed. Connect the joystick with a USB cable and check. A similar port is available on all wireless joysticks, since it is used to charge it and you can also connect through it.

If, after connecting the device using a cable, you see that the console has detected it, then the wireless module is faulty.

It remains to find out where exactly this module is faulty on the gamepad or on the console. If possible, connect another wireless device to the device, for example, headphones. If they are not detected, then the module is faulty on the console.

If you are good with a soldering iron and the warranty period for the set-top box has already expired, then you can re-solder the module yourself. If you are not confident in your own abilities, then it is better not to risk it and contact a service center. In any case, the repair cost will be lower than the cost of purchasing a new device.

Having bought a new game console, you can very quickly ensure that it stops working properly. It’s quite enough to carry joysticks with you everywhere, throw them anywhere, or try to spill coffee on your console or gamepad. Therefore, if you want the device to please you for a long time, then after use, carefully put it away out of the reach of children and pets.
