PS3 joystick glitches
The joystick on the PlayStation 3 is a kind of “key” to controlling the game console. It provides not only control within games, but also navigation in the main menu. And if it fails, the user loses the ability to control the console.

Why is the joystick buggy on PS3?
There can be about as many reasons for a gamepad malfunction as there are consequences. Main problems:
- One of the buttons is broken. Most often this happens with the cross. In the event of such a breakdown, the key ceases to obey the user, but instead presses the buttons at random intervals, either never, or several times per second.
- Physical deterioration. This happens if the joystick has been actively used for many years. The consequences can be varied. In such situations, you can often notice a crack in the housing or loosening of the entire structure.
- Membrane depletion. In this situation, no external damage is visible, but the buttons work unstable and incorrectly. The reason lies inside the device - the membrane that receives keystrokes has become unusable or damaged.
- Damage to the microcircuit. Failure at the gamepad architecture level. Most often, the device simply refuses to work.
- Software glitch. An error at the level of the joystick software or the PS itself (although the second is less common). The consequences can be unpredictable - accidental clicks, incorrect display of the interface, etc.
ATTENTION.The PlayStation device needs to be charged every few days, depending on the activity of its use. If it is discharged, it will not be able to work. It happens that inexperienced users forget about this.
Options for solving the problem
First of all, you need to check the functionality of the gaming station itself. This doesn't happen often, but it happens that problems with the functioning of the gamepad are directly related to the console. It is enough to connect a joystick that is known to work properly to the gaming station (borrow from a friend, for example) and check all the functions with it. If a different joystick ensures stable operation of all functions, then the problem is with the old gamepad.
The user can attempt to figure this out on their own, or contact technical support. Most likely, you will need to replace one of the gamepad parts, or even buy a new one.
