What is the difference between CR2025 and 2032 batteries
Today, almost every person has a computer at their disposal. Everyone knows that it requires electricity to function successfully. That's why it connects to the power grid. However, few people know that in addition to mains electricity, computers also have a battery. It is this that allows the computer to “remember” the basic time, date and other settings while it is disconnected from the power supply.
Over time, the battery runs out and needs to be replaced. The computer will work without it, but each time you start it you will have to manually set the necessary parameters. There are two batteries that are almost identical in appearance, designated CR2032 and CR2025. What is their difference, is it possible to change them with each other? This is the main thing that a buyer asks in a store. In order for everything to become clear, you should study their main characteristics and understand where these batteries are used.

Technical parameters of the CR2025 battery
The CR2025 battery is used in small electronic equipment that requires a small amount of electrical energy.
According to the IEC standard, the name of this battery “declares” its characteristics and composition:
- C – lithium is used;
- R – the device has a round shape;
- 20 – product diameter 20 millimeters;
- 25 – product height 2.5 millimeters.
These are just the main characteristics that are encrypted in the name itself. But to have a more complete understanding of this battery, it is worth studying it in more detail.
The CR2025 battery has a lot of parameters that characterize it. But they are rarely seen in full detail. Let's try to correct this misunderstanding and consider the most basic of them:
- element voltage - 3 volts;
- final voltage - 2.0 volts;
- capacity - 165 milliamps per hour;
- continuous discharge current - 0.2 milliamps;
- temperature range of use - from -30 to +60 degrees;
- weight - 2.3 grams;
- anode material - lithium;
- cathode material - manganese oxide;
- The electrolyte is usually organic.
The code numbers in the name may be followed by additional letters that indicate the type of electrolyte used:
- P – alkaline electrolyte based on potassium hydroxide.
- S – alkaline electrolyte based on sodium hydroxide.
- W – electrolyte is used for watches (safe).
Reference. If there is no letter after the numbers, this means that the manufacturer used an organic electrolyte. This type of substance, even if it leaks inside the device, will not cause any damage. But alkali-based electrolytes are very harmful to electronic boards.
The rate of loss of battery charge directly depends on the temperature at which it is operated. This is clearly visible on the graph.
Sometimes the battery also indicates such an important parameter as the date of manufacture or expiration date. If these data are indicated, they are applied directly to the body. However, this does not always happen and not with every manufacturer. They are too reluctant to reveal their secrets.It may also happen that a product goes on sale that was manufactured five years ago and was stored in warehouses for a long time.
Technical Parameters of CR2032
The main thing that distinguishes this battery from “finger-type” ones is its round shape.
In addition to the fact that it is round, it has other distinctive characteristics:
- it uses an electrolyte based on lithium and manganese;
- voltage - 3 volts;
- diameter - 20 millimeters;
- height - 3.2 millimeters.
In order not to confuse this battery with other similar power sources, it was standardized. It doesn’t matter who made it or where – it invariably belongs to class 2032 (according to the IEC standard).
The battery is very often used in a variety of devices. It is installed:
- on the computer motherboard, thanks to which the PC BIOS is able to store data about time, date, etc.;
- at hours;
- into various toys for children.
In addition, remote controls can operate from it. Even doorbells have such a battery.
What is the difference between CR2025 and 2032 batteries
Most buyers have questions about the similarities and differences between these types of batteries. CR2032 and CR2025 are similar in that they are lithium-based batteries with a round shape. They also have the same diameter. For both, it is equal to two centimeters.
But they differ in thickness:
- CR2025 - 2.5 millimeters;
- CR2032 - 3.2 millimeters.
They also differ in their capacity. The capacity value of CR2025 is 150 milliamps per hour, the capacity of CR2032 is slightly larger and is equal to 210 milliamps per hour. This difference makes it possible to operate the CR2032 for a longer period.
Understanding the differences between these batteries, you can always accurately choose the required option.
If the battery location allows, then one can always be replaced with another. But since they differ in thickness, it is likely that their operation will be unstable. This should be taken into account, since not all manufacturers apply markings to their products.
It's been a long time since such verbal diarrhea has been spewed out.
Capacity is measured in milliampere hours! And not “... per hour”, which implies DIVISION!!!
This is genius!
“210 milliamps per hour”? Or maybe 210 milliamp hours? The author is confused about the elementary parameters. A lot of words, little meaning, and even misleading.
I agree, diarrhea
105 milliamps per half hour.
This is not a long article. Instead of the performance characteristics of batteries there is a bunch of blah blah. Plus, the author is not in the subject, he forgot about 2016 and, on the contrary, about the thicker ones (having taken up so much space, it would have been possible to cover both small and large brothers, I had a hard time remembering about bios, and I certainly didn’t know that it was being actively replaced by uefi.
Empty. Waste of time
Clarifications:
1. If you look from above, then both “finger” and “tablets” are round, and therefore this is not a difference (in fact, both are cylinders)
2. Battery capacity is measured not in amperes per hour (Ah), but in ampere hours (Ah)
What are you getting attached to, smart guys? There is nothing more to write. Normal and competent article. Everything is clear and specific. Thanks to the author.
If for a victim of the Unified State Exam, then normal and literate. But for a normal, literate person - alas and oh...
There is a problem with electrical engineering.
I thought I would learn something interesting. Write a post for the sake of writing? Briefly: one is 2.5 mm thick, and the other is 3.2. The capacity of the second one is larger accordingly, that’s it!
How long have you been sucking an article out of thin air?
the specialists weren’t going to read this article. But there’s laughter when amateurs read the article and scold the author: they say, I THOUGHT (he also knows how to think) that I would learn something smart from the article... Damn, you fucking shit yourself at least something worthwhile, well then evaluate others
Well done, you've already sent it. Although not worth it, but still...
You can describe in more detail the difference between AA and AAA batteries, and also 2032 and AAA, etc.
The article is about the fact that being enlightened and being enlightened are not the same thing.
I bought these (both of them) on Ali, 5 pieces in a blister, recently...?
Why did they compare so little? Well, we would also take Cr2016, 2042, 2045. Well, you can also take other diameters, 3032 for example.
Well, or maybe let’s just go to varta.com, shall we? Why, go for a walk, just go for a walk. There are absolutely countless different standard sizes.Well, you never know, maybe someone who comes here doesn’t know how to use the Internet.
After “milliamps per hour” I stopped reading.
We are waiting for articles about, 3025,3016,2016, 1610, 1616, 1632, 2016, 1220, and their differences from each other. PPC.
Is this some kind of joke?
There’s a lot of water, but you still can’t remember all the meanings...
Nonsense, or YANDEX ZEN is intended for nonsense. Everything they write has been studied and tested for a long time. Nothing interesting . Where do you recruit authors for articles? GARBAGE
Briefly, one is larger in thickness and capacity. Why the hell write ten million words? Stupid authors of stupid articles.
