The Gothic style is designed for wide spaces, high windows, ceilings and sufficient light. It is characterized by solidity and scale. Modern Gothic is used in interior design restaurants, hotels and country houses. If you want to reproduce elements in an ordinary apartment, then you should carefully consider all the details. The Gothic style is characterized by:

Materials

When decorating an apartment, natural marble can be replaced with elements that imitate a marble structure. The floors are decorated with ceramic tiles and parquet. In general, in the Middle Ages, floors were made of clay or were completely absent, but let’s not really dive into that atmosphere.

There may be a presence on the ceiling painting. Used as wall decorations aristocratic tapestries, paintings, frescoes. They depict historical scenes. Weapons (not AK-47, of course), forged candlesticks, vases, and lamps made in the form of torches are an integral part of the interior of a castle home. In order to emphasize the design, goblets, unusual sculptures, and heavy draperies are chosen.

Despite the massiveness, air and spaciousness should be felt everywhere.It is important to maintain balance, otherwise the royal grandeur of the room threatens to develop into bad taste and clutter.

Massive wooden structures will add grandeur to the interior. Following the windows and walls, the furniture also tends upward, and therefore it should be tall.

Wooden bed with a luxurious headboard and carved elements is sure to become the main accent of the bedroom. You can decorate it with a canopy. Furniture in the Gothic style is predominantly made of wood and is quite bulky in size.

In the center of the dining room there is a majestic dining table with carved legs. Royal chairs and armchairs have large armrests. You can place one or more chests, decorated with elegant forged fittings, against the wall. The mirrors are “dressed” in heavy baguettes.

Do not forget about cabinets and sideboards of the same stylistic orientation. Their doors are decorated stained glass, mirror patterns. The parts are coated with gold or silver paint. Curved furniture legs, carved, decorated with elegant elements. The presence of secret drawers near tables and cabinets is such a sophisticated message to past centuries with their customs. The forged rose decorating the furniture will highlight the stylization of the interior.

Not the last place in the living room is reserved, as already mentioned, fireplace. Of course, it, like other decorative details, should be decorated with forged metal patterns. Finishing can be made with marble or other natural stone. Don’t rely too much on the fireplace as a heating system - prepare heated floors in advance.

The Gothic style amazingly combines sophistication, luxury and scale. Pretentious details emphasize the high status and wealth of the owners.It will definitely appeal to connoisseurs of luxury on the one hand, and originality and creativity on the other.
