What is an air purifier
The air in the city is far from ideal in terms of cleanliness - exhaust from cars, emissions into the atmosphere from various industries, and if there are few green spaces, then the situation worsens even more. A person’s need for clean air comes first; it is enough to calculate how long a person can go without breathing. To clean the air in the room, a special device is used - an air purifier. Such devices are divided into two classes - water and dry. How they work and what they look like, as well as what additional useful functions they have, is further in the article.

What is he doing
Both water and dry purifiers include a number of filters, passing through which the air is cleaned of harmful impurities. The filters, as a rule, also include antiallergens, which trap most of the substances that cause an allergic reaction in humans. The carbon filter is used to eliminate unpleasant odors and neutralize toxic substances contained in the air coming from the street. The air purifier also includes an ionizing device that allows you to saturate the already filtered air with ozone. Thanks to the ionizer, additional disinfection occurs, and a freshness effect is obtained, which is well felt in a thunderstorm.In addition, ozone contributes to the death of dust mites, which cause allergic reactions in humans to the products of their vital activity.
The humidification effect allows you to maintain the natural humidity of the environment, comfortable for humans. Too dry air is harmful to the eyes and lungs, causing excessive dryness and irritation of the mucous membranes.
Some models of dry cleaners are equipped with a so-called HEPA filter, which allows you to retain very small particles, less than 0.1 microns. Its meaning is that dust allergies are caused by small particles. Therefore, the presence of this filter in the device is highly desirable.
What does it look like
A water purifier is a plastic container filled with water, inside which plastic disks blown by a fan are lowered into the water. Dust sticks to them, after which it is washed off due to rotation. All types of sinks are identical in design, differing only in external design, size and the presence of additional functions, for example, ionization, fine filters and fragrances.
A dry cleaner is somewhat similar in structure to a vacuum cleaner. Air from the environment enters it under pressure and passes through a filter system. As a rule, two or three filters are installed:
- pre-cleaning, which is a mesh sponge;
- fine cleaning, which contains material with micropores, after which some models have a HEPA filter.
In terms of design and construction, a dry air purifier can be wall-mounted, floor-mounted or table-top; the shape depends on the design solution - rectangular, cylindrical, cubic - and can vary greatly.
Possible additional functions of the air purifier
In addition to the already described ionization functions, as well as HEPA filtering, there may be models that support the following functions:
- Disinfectants - act due to photocatalytic reactions, as well as due to UV radiation, destroying viruses and bacteria. Also, photocatalysts in combination with ionizers can effectively disperse tobacco smoke.
- Flavoring - they act by spraying liquids with a pleasant odor into the filtered mixture; it is preferable to use it if necessary to eliminate unpleasant odors entering the room.
The presence of additional functions, although it makes using the device more comfortable, can greatly affect the cost of the product.
