Types of humidifiers
Dry air in residential areas is the cause of human illness. The human body is 60% water. Moist air helps maintain fluid levels in the body.
A special household humidifier is capable of increasing the humidity level and constantly maintaining it.

Types of air humidifiers for apartments
Modern industry offers customers various models of devices. According to the method of operation, there are 3 types of household devices: traditional, steam, ultrasonic.
Traditional humidifier
With the traditional method, humidification occurs due to the cold steam that the device releases. The main function of the device is performed by evaporators (cartridges, filters, discs). By force of pressure they spray water, which falls on them from a container in the device. As a result of evaporation, tiny particles of water spread throughout the room, making the air humid.
Important! Thanks to the replaceable antibacterial filters found in traditional appliances, the air is purified simultaneously with humidification. After passing through the filters, clean air, free of dust, is returned to the room.
Traditional devices are the easiest to operate and most economical. However, during operation they will require additional costs for replacing the filter or cartridge.
Steam humidifier
Devices of the second type are called steam devices, because a jet of steam is released not due to pressure, but as a result of heating the liquid. Steam models are the only humidifiers that produce hot steam. Another feature of steam humidifiers is the ability to achieve a quick and sharp increase in the percentage of humidity in the air.
Steam-type devices have no replaceable parts; they have a simple design, are simple and reliable to use. At the same time, the use of steam models increases energy consumption.
Important! The safety of the devices is ensured by the shutdown function, which occurs automatically when the water has completely evaporated.
Ultrasonic humidifier
Ultrasonic devices are devices of a higher level than traditional and steam models. A special plate becomes the source of evaporation. During operation of the device, it produces ultrasonic vibrations. Their high frequency makes it possible to separate water droplets into minimal particles that are practically weightless. Thanks to this volatility, microscopic droplets easily fill the entire room.
Advantages of ultrasonic models:
- Production of warm air (about 40°).
- The presence of a hygrostat - an element that allows you to maintain the level of humidity that is set by the owner of the mechanism.
- Low noise operation.
- Low energy consumption.
Important! It is recommended to fill the containers of ultrasonic humidifiers with distilled or boiled water. This will prolong the performance of the device.
Types of humidifiers and their dependence on room area
Different types of humidifiers differ not only in their operating principles.Their capabilities are related to the area of the room in which the devices are installed.
- Traditional devices: perform well both in small areas (up to 15 – 18 sq.m.) and in large areas (up to 50 sq.m.).
- Steam units: quickly increase humidity in areas up to 50 sq.m.
- Ultrasonic devices: initially models were produced that were intended for use in rooms with a small area (up to 20–30 sq.m.). In recent years, models designed for rooms of 40-50 sq.m. have also appeared.
Reference! In industrial facilities (offices, warehouses, retail, industrial premises) special types of humidifiers with increased power are used - atomizers.
The best types of humidifiers for a child's room
The main quality of devices for children's — optimal combination of functionality and security. Ultrasonic models fully meet these requirements. They will not only make the atmosphere comfortable for the baby, but will independently monitor the level of humidity and regulate their work based on specific indicators. The silent operation of ultrasonic models will not disturb the child during sleep.
Many manufacturers, creating models specifically for children's rooms, make devices from high-strength materials, give them the shape of a fun toy, and additionally equip them with a night light.
