How to clean your iron from dust and carbon deposits

At the most inopportune moment, it leaves marks on the fabric, and sometimes hopelessly ruins clothes. Most often this happens if the device has not been cleaned for a long time. And this procedure must be carried out regularly. This is not difficult to do, but you need to know how to clean it correctly. After all, you will have to remove contaminants not only from the external surface, but also from inside the device.

Folk remedies

Housewives are sometimes surprised to hear that the iron requires maintenance inside. But there is nothing surprising about this. When using a household appliance, dust particles penetrate the device and accumulate on its internal surfaces. Very small holes are enough for dust to quickly cover all the walls and the invisible part of the sole. And then it becomes the cause of soot.

To get rid of dirt inside, we will take advantage of the fact that the design features allow you to pour water into the iron to steam the fabric. But For cleaning you will not need water, but specially prepared compounds.

Method 1 - vinegar solution

• Mix vinegar and water in equal parts.
• Pour into an iron placed vertically.
• We heat it up and leave it on for 10 minutes, without reacting to turning the device on and off.
• After 10 minutes, disconnect the device from the network and turn on the “steam generation” option. At this time, hold the iron over a bucket or basin: the steam and liquid coming out of it will be dirty.

Important! The procedure is performed in a ventilated room with an open window.

• When there is no vinegar solution left, repeat the procedure with clean water.. This will not only help remove any remaining dirt, but will also wash away the vinegar from surfaces.
• At the end of the procedure, use a small brush (you can use an old toothbrush) to treat the outer surface of the sole, removing any remaining dirt and traces of vinegar solution.

Method 2 - citric acid solution

Using another solution is effective. It is prepared on the basis of citric acid.

Add citric acid (1 packet) to warm water (1 glass), stir until completely dissolved. Then they act according to the scheme described above.

Remember to rinse the internal surfaces with clean water and also clean the external openings! And be sure to let the device dry thoroughly after washing.

Method 3 - hydrogen peroxide

When using this product, we will not prepare a solution.

• A napkin is soaked in peroxide and wiped over the cold surface.
• Use cotton swabs, also dipped in peroxide, to remove dirt in the holes.

Advice. In case of severe contamination, a natural fabric napkin is generously moistened with peroxide. The iron is placed vertically, a cloth is placed on the sole, and left for 2-3 hours. Then wipe with another napkin soaked in clean water and iron the unnecessary fabric.

Male way

There is another way to clean the inside surface. But if women can easily cope with the tasks described above, then in this case it will be necessary to involve men in the work. The fact is that you will have to disassemble the iron, opening access to its internal volume.

• Separate the sole by unscrewing the connecting parts.
• Remove dust with a dry cloth or brush.
• Prepare a hot solution with citric acid as indicated above.
• To clean the reservoir, pour the solution into it.
• Soak a cloth in the remaining solution and wipe the sole.
• Rinse everything with clean water.
• Dry the parts and reassemble the iron.

Chemicals that can be used

In addition to proven folk remedies, you can use special chemicals:

• Antiscale;
• Top house;
• Cillit bang etc.

They have the same effect: softens dirt, making it easier to get rid of them.

And the principle of action of the drugs is the same. They are diluted following the instructions, poured into the device, and left for a while. And then they release the steam along with the dirt.
