Scam, past or future? Ultrasonic washing machine
Sometimes TV stores offer seemingly wonderful things that, with the wave of a magic wand, can radically change our lives. Once upon a time, our grandmothers rinsed things in the river, and now we have machines that wash and spin them themselves.
Technology did not stop at this achievement, and now we are actively offered compact ultrasonic devices, which (according to the passionate assurances of sellers) will be able to remove all contaminants. Is it so?
The content of the article
Let's start with the basics, what kind of miracle unit is this?
An ultrasonic washing machine is a tiny device that is placed in a basin with water and dirty laundry. The power supply is plugged into the outlet and the washing process begins. According to the instructions, the ultrasound mechanism is activated. The range is 22–30 kHz, so most often the operation is silent.
Unfortunately, there is no precise evidence of the safety of radiation for humans and pets. Here I recommend remembering that the ears of cats and dogs are much more sensitive than ours.
One of the most mentioned units is Retona, and most reviews are predominantly negative!
How to wash
I found several recommendations on how best to wash with ultrasound:
- Cover the bowl with a lid.
- Use metal basins.
- The water must be hot! At least 50 degrees.
- Do not wash mountains of laundry, but limit yourself to a small amount.
- Put a lot of hand washing powder.
- It is advised to periodically turn the laundry over and change the location of the unit.
- Wash for at least an hour and a half.
The manufacturers themselves write that the machines work great without special tools, but numerous reviews and personal experience say otherwise...
Let's find the pros and cons
Like every device, the device has supporters and opponents with different opinions. Let's try to combine the main points.
Advantages
- Compact size, much smaller than full-fledged units, it can be placed on a shelf in the bathroom.
- Cheaper than a full-fledged car.
- It can be useful on trips, at the dacha, it won’t require a lot of space in your bag, and to use it you only need to find a basin, water and an outlet for connection.
- Saves electricity. You can’t argue with this point! It consumes significantly less electricity.
Flaws
- You will have to rinse and wring out with your own hands. People with back pain and arthritis should still buy a full-fledged automatic washing machine.
- Requires participation in the washing process. No amount of oaths from sellers and manufacturers about the independence of the device will actually help to wash even small stains; you still need to go to the basin about once every half hour to turn the laundry over.
- Often you have to re-wash.
- Removes only very light stains! You will have to remove ketchup, grass and other difficult stains yourself; even soaking does not always help.
- You can’t wash a lot of clothes at once, only a little at a time. For example, one shirt, some socks... Very impractical for family people! Some children's things require special attention, not to mention a set of bedding!
You should be critical of advertising. Many experts agree that an ultrasonic washing machine is a successful marketing ploy.
Still not convinced that it’s better not to buy it? Then I will give an example from personal experience.
How it was
Quite by accident, such a thing fell into my hands. Naturally, my eyes immediately lit up to experience it in the field. I don’t have metal basins, so I took plastic ones. A towel specially stained with ketchup acted as a guinea pig. It lay in water with an ultrasonic washing machine for more than an hour and a half, no one saw any changes, it was decided to add washing powder.
An hour after adding, my patience ran out, the ketchup soaked a little, I suspect due to the addition of hot water and the addition of powder. Then there was a white cloth, which was used to sweep away some dust. She took an ultrasonic bath for about two hours, but the whiteness did not return...
Of course, everyone decides for themselves whether to buy or not, but this is definitely not a technological breakthrough, and a miracle will not happen. It is difficult to replace a full-fledged washing machine, and certainly not with ultrasound!
Retona, which has been advertised lately, is a waste of money, time and nerves. This is a real characteristic of the so-called washing machine.
