What do the icons on the washing machine mean? List of all basic designations and symbols

The icons on the washing machine are always shown on the front panel, and their explanation is presented in the instructions or directly on the body. Designations may vary depending on the brand and even within the same model range. Icons for all common washing machines, as well as their explanations, can be found in this article.

Bosch

Understanding what puppies on a washing machine mean is quite simple. But it is worth considering that each model may have its own characteristics. For example, the icons on Bosch devices look like this:

  1. “T-shirt” is a mode in which you can wash items made from cotton fabrics. Also, similar symbols on some washing machine models may indicate an accelerated operating mode.
  2. A basin icon with several lines are signs on the washing machine that indicate high water consumption in the selected mode.
  3. Empty basin symbol – fast processing mode.
  4. “Clock face” – cleaning in a very fast mode.
  5. Iron icon - delicate processing, for example, fabrics made of silk or wool.
  6. Another type of delicate processing is indicated by the pajama pattern.
  7. The spin icon on the washing machine, like the drain, is shown at the very bottom (visible in the photo).
  8. On the panel you can also find a symbol of a basin with a handle - this is a delicate treatment mode, similar to hand washing.
  9. Many models have a special option for washing jeans; it is indicated by the “pants” icon.

It is worth noting that the arrangement of symbols may differ slightly depending on the specific model. For example, on some devices the rinse icon on the washing machine is not at the bottom, but slightly above.

Samsung, LG, Indesit

Approximately the same symbols can be found on Samsung brand models. But it’s worth considering that the decoding of the signs on the washing machine, as well as the images themselves, may differ slightly:

  1. T-shirt icon – high temperature treatment mode for heavy soiling, as well as for synthetic fabrics.
  2. Clock pattern – the ability to delay the start by an hour or another time (customizable individually).
  3. If we talk about what the icons on the Samsung washing machine in the form of balls and T-shirts mean, then this is the “Eco Bubble” mode. In this case, the powder is not simply fed into the drum, but is pre-mixed for foaming, which increases the washing efficiency.
  4. The image of a basin and several lines indicates the possibility of choosing a soaking mode.

The rest of the symbols on the Samsung washing machine have their own signatures, as in the photo, so they are quite understandable even without instructions.

The same can be said about LG brand devices. The front panel already has explanations for each button, so you can learn how to operate it in a matter of minutes.

Ardo

The same applies to Indesit brand devices.

Indesit - designations

  2. “Flower” is a designation for delicate processing, for example, silk blouses.
  3. The pattern with a skein of thread means a special option for woolen fabrics.

Other washing machines

Well-known manufacturers of other devices have significantly simplified the task for users. It is not necessary to decipher the signs, since the inscriptions in Russian are already given. For example, this is what the front panel of Beko models looks like.

And so – the device panel of the “Candy” brand.

Icons on the Sandy washing machine

It is quite simple to understand how the icons are deciphered. Most often, users choose between standard, quick wash, and processing of delicate fabrics. It will not be superfluous to understand how to set the desired temperature level, whether there is a delayed start option and other useful options.
