What types of juicers are there?

The modern range of types of juicers for vegetables and fruits can amaze even the pickiest consumer. But, unfortunately, most users know about the existence of only two types of devices for making juices: screw and centrifugal. But there are an order of magnitude more devices, they differ in functionality and operating principles.

And, knowing about the features of each device, you can choose the optimal model, which is why we decided to pay special attention to this issue in today’s article.

Types of juicers according to their design

Types of juicers according to their designWhat types of juicers are there? Based on their operating principle, they are divided into three main categories:
  • Manual;
  • Mechanical;
  • Electrical.
Manual. These juicers are powered by human physical strength. They cannot be called high-performance devices, because spinning takes a lot of time. But there are also a number of advantages:
  • No electricity consumption;
  • All vitamins and beneficial properties are preserved;
  • There is no noise during operation;
  • The spin quality is close to the maximum level.

Electrical. The presented devices are equipped with a small engine and operate from an electrical network. A person only needs to add groceries, turn on the device and enjoy a delicious drink. High power provides these devices with high operating speed, but:

  • They will heat up quickly, which is why frequent breaks are necessary;
  • Under excessive loads, the engine may break;
  • Electricity will be consumed, which will require additional waste.

Mechanical. These devices produce juice through the operation of special mechanisms. But connecting to the electrical network is not required, which is one of the main advantages. An example of such a juicer is a device that operates on the principle of a meat grinder. The fruits are twisted through a special spiral thanks to the forces applied to the lever, and the resulting juice is delicious, rich in vitamins and other useful substances.

Operating principle

Operating principle of juicersThis classification is based on the squeezing method. There are two types of devices: types of juicers: auger and centrifugal.
Centrifugal. These models have a mesh with a grater attached to it. After loading the fruit, the centrifuge is started, the fruit is ground, and thanks to the centrifugal force, the vitamin juice is separated from the pulp, which will have to be thrown away after each use of the device. The characteristic features of this device are:
  • High speed;
  • Loud noise during operation;
  • Affordable price.

Important! Due to the fact that the drink comes into contact with oxygen during the cooking process, it must be drunk immediately after preparation. The maximum storage time without loss of beneficial properties is 30 minutes.

Screw. These models are either manual or electric, powered from the network. The fruits are crushed using augers. The characteristic features of such models include:

  • Slow work;
  • Minor noise;
  • Versatility.

In addition, the prepared juice is suitable for consumption within 48 hours, and it can also be preserved for the winter.

Also, owners of auger juicers will be able to use them to prepare not only vitamin drinks. Using special attachments, you can prepare minced meat, pasta or homemade sausage.

Scope of application

Scope of application of juicersIn this classification, three main areas can be distinguished:

  • At home;
  • Professional juicers;
  • For industrial use.
  1. Household models are the most common option. They are intended for daily use and are designed for average families of 3 to 5 people. Used for processing small quantities of fruits.
  2. Professional - used in catering establishments. These devices are characterized by high power and high operating speed. Distinctive characteristics include aesthetic design and a very high price.
  3. Industrial - used for processing fruits on an industrial scale. Productivity and speed are close to maximum levels.

By purpose

Juicers, types by purposeAll juicers can be divided into categories for processing:

  • Citrus;
  • Hard fruits;
  • Fruits with seeds.
  1. Citrus. These models are designed for processing tangerines, lemons, oranges, etc. They have low power and compact dimensions. The juice is obtained thanks to a special knife with a ribbed surface.
  2. Hard fruits. Such devices have high power and allow you to obtain juice from apples, carrots, celery and similar fruits.
  3. Fruits with seeds. Special devices do not break and prevent seeds from getting into the drink.

In addition, there are universal models that can cope with any type of fruit and delight consumers with wide functionality.
