I monitor on the meter which household appliances consume the most electricity.

Utilities are expensive. At the same time, energy often goes literally “nowhere” - you seem to be trying to save money, using electrical appliances to a minimum, but a significant amount accumulates on the meter. Today I will tell you which household appliances consume the most electricity and which ones consume the least.

Fridge

The electricity consumption of a modern device is very low - 0.1-0.2 kW per hour. In this case, energy is spent only in the compressor operating mode. Simply put, the refrigerator only moves the meter when it “buzzes.” However, this only applies to modern devices. Old-style devices spend several times more.

Microwave

The main household assistant of the modern housewife is not too gluttonous. It consumes only 0.7-1 kW per hour, depending on the power. But a decent amount of electricity accumulates during the standby mode, time display and backlight. That is why it is better to turn off devices completely.

Heater

An indispensable device that saves you from public utilities with their preventive work. Moreover, it is not so gluttonous. Convector devices consume up to 1.5 kW per hour. Oil - up to 1 kW. True, the latter also stink terribly, so savings are not always justified.

Water heater

Boiler owners are not afraid of pipe repairs in the summer - they will not wash in a basin. However, comfort comes at a price. The average heater spends up to 2 kW per hour of operation. Flow-type boilers are even more voracious - they can consume from 3 to as much as 27 kW.

Washing machine

The most common washing machine spends up to 2.5 kW per hour of operation. In this case, most of the electricity is “eaten up” at the time of boiling. So if you want to save electricity, it is better to turn on the machine at low temperatures.

Iron

The smallest, but, surprisingly, one of the most power-hungry household appliances. In an hour of operation, it is capable of generating up to 3 kW of electricity! Steam devices waste the most because they need to heat up to maximum temperature.

Electric kettle

Similar to an iron - to maintain the boiling temperature, it needs to spend up to 3 kW per hour. However, in reality, the operating costs of the kettle are small, since it is turned on not so often and for a short period of time.

Air conditioner

The condo is indispensable in the summer heat, but is merciless on energy bills. The climate control system consumes an average of 3.5 kW per hour of activity. Although the inverter system of the compressor can reduce these costs by half.

Electric stove

People are massively abandoning unsafe gas and switching to electricity. However, this significantly increases the payment figure. In an hour of operation, all four burners consume from 4 to 8 kW. However, if you consider that owners rarely turn them on at the same time, the consumption will be noticeably lower.

How to save electricity

To avoid spending half your salary on utilities, just follow a few simple tips. Namely:

  1. Unplug all devices from the outlet. The standby mode, in fact, also increases the bills.
  2. When purchasing new equipment, you need to check the energy efficiency class. It is best to use A, A+ or A++.
  3. It is advisable to place the refrigerator next to the coolest wall. Under no circumstances should it be placed near the stove.
  4. It’s commonplace to not fill the kettle to the top so as not to boil excess water.
  5. Fully load the washing machine so that it does not spin in vain.

Comments and feedback:

I recently looked at systems A, A+, A++, You will overpay 10-15 thousand, but you will save in 20 years
