Dishwasher dimensions
Why do you need to know the size of the dishwasher you are purchasing? The question remains unclear: if the kitchen is large, there is no need to hide it in a closet or under the sink. But in cases where two people can hardly pass each other in the kitchen, saving space becomes a pressing issue. The article will give a general classification of PMM by size, including those from various leading manufacturers.
The content of the article
Built-in dishwasher size
For the convenience of users, they try to adapt modern technology to the average statistical proportions of a person, for which manufacturers conduct a number of studies. Also important is how the appliance fits into the interior of the kitchen. The main parameters when determining the dimensions of the PMM are:
- location in the kitchen interior from an aesthetic point of view;
- distance from the sink;
- volume of space occupied;
- convenience of location.
Based on their dimensions, dishwashers are divided into three main classes:
- standard, or full-size – width ranges from 55 to 65 cm. Height varies from 65 to 85, and depth – 54–63 cm, respectively.
- compact – 55–60 cm wide, height 44–60, depth 50–60 cm;
- narrow - about 45 cm wide, height 81–85, depth 51–65 cm.
There are also a number of non-standard machines that do not fall into this classification.
Important! The height of most built-in machines corresponds to the standard 830 mm.
Types of built-in dishwashers according to their dimensions
What are the dimensions of standard PMMs?
For a large family, or in families that often receive many guests, there is a need to wash a large number of dishes (up to 12 sets). Standard devices are usually installed under the countertop. With the help of height-adjustable legs, you can adjust the size of the dishwasher to the work surface.
The standard dimensions of PMM from most manufacturers are as follows:
- width 598 mm;
- height from 815 to 875 mm;
- depth 550 mm.
What dimensions are narrow dishwashers?
When space is limited in the kitchen, narrow PMMs are often used. They, like the standard ones, are intended for installation under the tabletop, and are also height-adjustable using legs. They are somewhat inferior in performance to the standard ones. The dimensions of narrow PMMs are usually as follows:
- width 448 mm;
- height from 815 to 875 mm;
- depth 550 mm.
Thus, the dimensions, with the exception of the width, coincide with the standard ones.
What sizes are compact dishwashers?
Compact PMMs can either be built under a countertop, in a cabinet or under a sink, or used in a desktop or portable version. Of course, their performance is significantly lower than that of standard and narrow models.There are two main standards of dimensions for compact PMMs: the first is width 454 mm, height 595 mm, depth 500 mm; the second one differs in width - 595 millimeters, the other dimensions are identical.
What sizes are popular models of built-in dishwashers?
Below are the dimensions of built-in PMMs that have won user recognition in the domestic market.
Model name | WxHxD |
Bosch Serie 4 SMV 44KX00 R 59 | 8x81.5x55 |
MAUNFELD MLP-12B | 60x80.5x54 |
Siemens SR 65M081 | 45x82x55 |
Bosch Serie 4 SPV 40X80 | 44.8x81.5x55 |
Electrolux ESL 94200 LO | 45x82x55 |
Siemens iQ500 SC 76M522 | 60x59.5x50 |
Bosch SMV 65M30 | 60×81,5×55 |
Siemens SN 66M094 | 60x82x55 |
Simfer BM 1200 | 60x85X60 |
Miele G 4263 SCVI Active | 60x80x57 |
Dimensions of non-standard dishwashers
Let us first present a list of manufacturing companies that adhere to domestic standards and focus on the Russian market. These are Siemens, Hansa, Candy, Electrolux and Bosch. The dimensions of the products of the listed companies fit into the standards given in the article. Products from Kuppersbusch, Miele, Smeg may differ significantly in dimensions from the standard ones, so you should immediately clarify the parameters of the product you are purchasing. Let us give as an example the dimensions of some non-standard models:
Model name | WxHxD |
Kuppersbusch IGVS 6609 | 60x87x55 |
Kuppersbusch IGS 6908.1 GE | 60x91x57 |
Smeg STO905-1 | 86x58x55 |
Samsung DW50H4050BB | 45x82x65 |
In addition to dimensions, there are many parameters that differ markedly between different PMM models. These include:
- electricity consumption, as well as the efficiency of the device;
- number of operating modes;
- the level of noise produced (ideally should not exceed 40–45 decibels) - this parameter is very important when buying an economy class dishwasher, where the noise reduction system is usually a weak point;
- drying and heat exchange system;
- loading chamber capacity – determines the number of dishes that can be washed in one cycle. For standard PMMs, this parameter is 12–15 sets, for small machines – at least 5;
- device safety class;
- manufacturer's guarantees.
When choosing to purchase a dishwasher from a particular company, you should study not only its dimensions, but also the above parameters in order to choose exactly what your heart desires.
