Dishwasher does not drain water

Dishwasher does not drain waterAny, even the most reliable equipment, has its own motor resource. They have been trying to invent a perpetual motion machine for more than one generation, but it hasn’t worked out yet. The dishwasher is no exception - it also breaks down over time. This happens, as a rule, without warning - it worked, worked, and stopped. One of these breakdowns is when the dishwasher stops draining water. What is the reason? There may be several of them. The article will provide a list of possible malfunctions and methods for eliminating them.

Reasons why there is water in the dishwasher after the washing process is completed

The most common malfunctions associated with water drainage problems are:

  • filter clogging;
  • kink in the drain hose;
  • clogging of the drain system;
  • malfunction or contamination of the drain pump;
  • failure of the pressure switch;
  • control module malfunction.

How to identify a malfunction

Dishwasher repairIf the filter, which is usually located in the lower part of the PMM, is clogged, its condition is visible to the naked eye.

With the hose located behind the machine, everything is also clear - a bend or pinching, if any, is obvious.

To see if the drain system is clogged, you will have to disconnect the drain hose from the sewer system and from the dishwasher and visually inspect the hose and its connection to the sewer. The hose can be checked by passing water through it, having first disconnected it from the sewer, but not from the machine - if there is no blockage, water will flow out of it in a normal stream, under pressure.

The most common cause of malfunction is a clogged drain pump located at the bottom of the dishwasher. To determine and eliminate the malfunction, you need to remove the pump, clean it, and check the rotation of the internal impellers with a pencil.

If after the above inspection the dishwasher still does not work, then the pressure switch or software module has probably failed.

What to do if there is water left at the bottom of the appliance

Narrow dishwasherYou cannot use a faulty dishwasher. One malfunction, even a minor one, if not eliminated, entails other, more serious ones. It is necessary to start looking for the cause of the breakdown in order, going through options one after another. If there is no proper experience, time or desire to deal with this issue, specially trained people will solve it for an appropriate fee.

Methods for solving the problem depending on the cause

Water does not drain through a pinched hose

The result of pinching the hose is that the water has nowhere to go from the dishwasher; naturally, it does not leave.After identifying a kink or pinching of the drain hose, which is located at the back of the machine, it must be disconnected from the dishwasher, corrected, and, checking the reliability and tightness of the connection, returned to its original position.

Clogged filter or individual drain areas

The filter becomes clogged with food debris; the instructions for Bosch dishwashers recommend removing them before washing the dishes. The filter is removed, cleaned with a toothbrush or running water, and put back in place. If the drain hose is clogged, it is also disconnected and thoroughly cleaned, after which it is reconnected to the PMM. Often the connection between the hose and the sewer system becomes clogged. In this case, disconnect the hose and remove the blockage.

The pump responsible for pumping water out of the dishwasher tank burned out.

Dishwasher filterCleaning the filter, drain, hose did not help. What then? Most often the pump fails. How to get to it?

  • Empty the dishwasher.
  • Remove the filter.
  • Turn the dishwasher over and remove the tray secured with screws.

Important! An “Aqua-stop” sensor is sometimes attached to the pallet; if the wires are damaged, it will stop working.

  • Disconnect the “Aqua-stop” indicator.
  • Unscrew the pump and disconnect it from the hoses.
  • Check the rotation of the pump impeller. If it does not spin, it means the pump is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Connect a multimeter to the pump contacts. Normal resistance should be about 0.2 kOhm. Check the voltage supply from the pump to the control module.

If the pump malfunctions, purchase the same or similar one and replace it with the previous one.

Faulty pressure switch

Pressostat is a water level sensor in a car.If a defect appears in the high-pressure tank or in the tube connected to the sensor, the data is distorted. As a result, the pressure switch does not send a signal to the control module, the pump does not turn on, and the water does not drain. If such a malfunction occurs, the sensor must be replaced.

Broken software module

Dishwasher repairThere are several reasons for the failure of a software module - short circuit, wear, or a failure in the firmware. When repairing electronics, it is better to contact a specialist; he will either install a new module or repair the old one.

In what cases is it better to contact a professional dishwasher repairman?

It all depends on your existing skills, desire and free time. Blockages or kinks in the hose can be easily eliminated yourself. Not everyone can change a pump, pressure switch or software module. There are doubts - there is no need to break expensive equipment. Then you will still have to call a specialist, but repairs may become more expensive.

How to prevent water from remaining at the bottom of the dishwasher

To ensure that the machine functions correctly and for a long time, carefully read the operating instructions. Do not operate the dishwasher in modes not specified in these instructions. If oddities appear in operation, even minor ones, find out their causes without waiting for the device to completely fail. If you do not understand the reasons for the appearance of water at the bottom of the PMM, contact a specialist.
