Dishwasher does not heat water
Most dishwashers are connected to a cold water supply, so without heating, the dishes simply will not be washed. The fact that the heating system is not working becomes clear soon after starting the dishwasher. And it is far from a fact that the heating element or temperature sensor has failed. The list of possible malfunctions does not end here, and will be discussed in detail in the article.

Possible reasons when the water does not heat up in the dishwasher
The main reasons why the water in the dishwasher does not heat up are:
- heating element malfunction;
- failure of the temperature sensor;
- control board is faulty.
In addition, reasons that at first glance are not related to water heating, but in fact indirectly affect it, may be:
- incorrect connection of the dishwasher;
- clogged garbage filter;
- incorrectly selected dishwashing mode;
- failure of the pressure sensor.By the way, before changing it, it is worth cleaning its contacts and checking the serviceability of the wiring going to it.
The question arises - what does the filter have to do with it? It's simple - if the filter is clogged, there is no water circulation between the tank and the tanks, the system replenishes water, but it does not return from the tank to the tanks. Ten doesn’t have time to heat it up. To identify this malfunction, just look into the tank during the washing process. During normal operation of the filter, water does not remain in it. If there is a problem, the filter needs to be cleaned.
If the connection to the sewer is incorrect, there will be no normal circulation of water in the dishwasher, and its temperature will not correspond to the norm, if it heats up at all. In this case, you need to connect the machine to the sewer system as shown in the instructions.
How to tell if your dishwasher isn't heating the water
The first sign that the dishwasher is not heating the water is that the dishes are poorly washed at the end of the washing process - they remain greasy. In addition, dishes that are not dried are also a sign that the water in the machine is not heated.
First aid for a broken device
First of all, if the dishwasher has stopped heating the water, you need to go through the list of possible faults and use the elimination method:
- check the garbage filter;
- try to reconfigure the machine to a different mode;
- check the correct connection to the sewer;
- inspect the pressure sensor.
If the initial measures do not bring results, it means that the heating element, temperature sensor, or control module has most likely failed.
How to check whether the dishwasher heats the water or not
If the heating system does not work, the dishwasher's energy consumption drops sharply.This is clearly visible on the electric meter. If the heating works, but incorrectly (as if the garbage filter is clogged, the pressure sensor is faulty, or the connection to the sewer is incorrect), energy consumption will not decrease, but the washing result will be sad - the dishes will remain cold, wet and dirty.
How to repair a dishwasher or replace parts yourself
How to fix a temperature sensor
The repair procedure is as follows:
- disconnect the dishwasher from the water supply, sewerage and power supply;
- remove the dish baskets from the tank;
- remove the garbage filter, remove the mesh and the fasteners located under it;
- turn the PMM upside down and disconnect the side fastenings.
- disconnect the drain pipe from the plastic block with the heating element and lift the bottom of the dishwasher up;
- The temperature sensor is located in the body of the heating block in order to accurately measure the water temperature. Disconnect the wires from the contacts of the temperature sensor;
- we clean the contacts and measure the resistance of the temperature sensor;
- We remove the failed sensor, replace it, and then assemble the car.
Repairing the control module at home
At home, if you are not an electronics engineer, immediately contact a specialist and do not aggravate the situation with repairs. If you have the skills to work with such devices, then you can try to fix the problem yourself.
How to replace the heating element
Before changing the heating element, it makes sense to immediately estimate the cost of the entire dishwasher. If the car is no longer new, it may turn out that the heating element will be more expensive than it. If the game is worth the candle, then let's get to it:
- remove the baskets from the hopper;
- disconnect the hoses and power supply;
- remove the sprinkler;
- remove the filter;
- remove the mesh;
- Unscrew the fastenings for the pipe and heating element.
- turn the machine over;
- turn the pump half a turn to the right and pull it out;
- remove the temperature sensor, put the pump aside;
- The heating element is held on by a rubber mount. Find it and then disconnect it;
- remove the sensor plugs, pipes, and then remove the heating element;
- install a new heating element and reassemble the dishwasher in reverse order.
Rules to help prevent dishwasher failure
Selecting the correct operating mode of the device
Make sure that the mode is set correctly - some modes provide for heating the water to 30–40 degrees (the so-called “delicate wash”). In addition, in dishwashers with electromechanical control, it happens that if you select a mode with a maximum heating of 30 degrees, and the manual adjustment will be at 90 degrees, the dishwasher will work according to the selected program, that is, the maximum water heating will be 30 degrees. The operating modes are described in detail in the operating instructions for the device.
Timely cleaning of filters
Including filter cleaning on your to-do list will save time and money in the long run. In addition, do not be lazy to remove food residues from dirty dishes before washing, do not complicate the task of the dishwasher and your life.
Using quality detergents
To ensure your dishwasher operates optimally, use the detergents and consumables specified in the instructions. You don’t refuel a car that runs on diesel fuel with gasoline, do you? Or don’t you fill your car’s tank with 76 gasoline instead of 95? The same rules apply here. Don't neglect them.
