How to install an electric heated towel rail in the bathroom yourself

A heated towel rail is an element that was most likely present in every Soviet apartment. Today they have changed dramatically and have become even more convenient. You can hang wet things on it that need to be dried. Until a certain period, only water structures that were connected to the general water supply were used. This was very inconvenient, because the rigid connection to the common riser made it difficult to move or replace them. The modern market offers new heated towel rails that can be installed in any convenient place.

DIY installation of an electric heated towel rail

First of all, you need to decide where you will install this structure. Before installing an electrical device yourself, you should carefully consider the location, because ease of use is important, and the overall design of the room should not be disrupted. Most often, the heated towel rail is located near the washbasins. Do not forget that the device will need to be connected to a power supply.

IMPORTANT. If the bathroom is not wired and there is no socket installed, to connect the heated towel rail it will be necessary to lay the cable in the electrical box.

The cable must be selected with double insulation, and the cross-section must be at least 2.5 mm2. Choose a socket with splash protection.

REFERENCE. A suitable socket will have a marking on the back of two numbers, and the second of these should be 4 or 5.

Installation to the wall is carried out with three or four screws using plastic dowels and screws. Fasteners should be galvanized or stainless steel. The installation algorithm is as follows:

1. Place the structure at the mounting location and mark where you will make the first hole.
2. Drill a hole. Install the dowel and screw the structure. Mark the location of the next hole.
3. Also grab the heated towel rail in the second hole and make the remaining holes. Secure the device.

Be careful not to damage the device. If possible, carry out installation with a protective film on the pipes, and remove it after the structure is securely attached to its place.

1. Lateral connection. Experts advise choosing this scheme in most cases. There is no dependence on the water pressure in the riser and its speed of movement. The distance from the riser does not matter. If the device is connected correctly, you will not have to bleed the air after temporarily turning off the water.
2. Bottom connection. This connection method is in demand because it makes it possible to hide communications without having to take drastic measures. Also, it is worth noting that many models are created specifically for this connection. This scheme is less efficient than a lateral or diagonal connection scheme.

Knownly non-working connection diagrams

Some craftsmen, in pursuit of an attractive external design or to save room space, choose unreasonable connection schemes for such devices. This may cause the device to not heat up if all systems are functioning properly.

1. It is impossible for there to be a hump or an arch in the upper section, this will certainly lead to airing of the system and the circulation through the heated towel rail will stop.
2. It is unacceptable to install the lower outlet at a level below the lowest point of the structure.
