How to cheat an induction cooker

cookware on induction cookerProgress does not stand still, and many innovations appear in the field of household appliances. The induction cooker cannot be called an innovation in the full sense of the word - the invention dates back to the 70s of the last century. These stoves have become widespread only in recent years due to many advantages - high efficiency, low power consumption compared to a classic electric stove, fire safety and convenience of this type of device. There are, however, some nuances in their use. Sometimes you have to cheat on an induction cooker; why to do this and how will be discussed later in the article.

Why is this necessary?

Cookware should be magneticThe device is demanding regarding what kind of utensils are used in the cooking process. The following conditions must be met:

  1. The first requirement is that the chemical composition of the material from which it is made must be ferromagnetic and conduct induction currents. To put it simply, you need metal utensils, and one to which the magnet sticks - this is the criterion for whether it is suitable or not. It can be enameled steel, food grade stainless steel, or cast iron, the main thing is that the material conducts magnetic currents. Special sets of induction cookware are marked accordingly in the form of an icon depicting a spring or the inscription induction. To use aluminum, ceramic or glassware, you will have to bypass the recognition system using induction disks.
  2. The second condition is a flat bottom of the cookware used, covering more than 70% of the working surface of the stove.
  3. And one more thing - the thickness of the cookware used must be at least two millimeters, otherwise it may become deformed during use, and the stove will also stop “seeing” it. If these conditions are not met, the electronics on the stove will not operate and the cooking process will not begin.

If the cookware does not meet these requirements, the oven may not recognize it. In such cases, some tricks have been invented to deceive the oven.

What will help you fool an induction cooker?

discs for induction cookerIn order for the heating process to proceed, it is necessary to mislead the device, ensuring that the above conditions are met. This maneuver is done using special discs.

What are induction discs

induction discIn fact, behind this tricky name is hidden a round disc made of a ferromagnetic material, such as stainless steel, of a suitable diameter to cover the work surface of the stove, perfectly flat and thick enough not to deform when heated. It can be purchased in a specialized store, online, or made at home from scrap materials.

Attention!

This solution has a small drawback - the performance of the stove drops somewhat due to the release of some of the heat by the disk into the environment. As a result, the cooking process is slower than when using the cookware directly, without a disk.

Features of using induction discs

use of induction discsThe meaning of the process is that first the disk installed on the work surface is heated, and then the heat from it is transferred to the dishes standing on it.

Comments and feedback:

The concept of efficiency for electric heating devices is not correct. We need to talk about the utilization rate of the heat generated by the device.
