Operating principle and design of a wood-burning hearth oven
The device is distinguished by top burnout, and is able to do this evenly and not waste a lot of fuel. Therefore, this option is considered the most economical to use. The efficiency of the unit lies in the fact that fuel oxidation occurs due to air masses that are supplied through the firebox door.
This ensures a fairly productive release of heat. As for the structure itself, it is possible to conditionally divide it into three parts.
- If we start the presentation from the bottom of them, then this is the housing for placing the heat source (loading chamber);
- Next comes the working area in which the combustion itself takes place. This area is characterized as the place with the highest temperatures;
- The last, highest level is the removal of flammable gases. Combustion products are burned in it and heat exchange takes place.
How to make a stove with your own hands
When creating wood-burning hearth ovens with your own hands, in order to choose a location, it is advisable to take into account its accessibility. The foundation should not be shared with the house.
- You will need a grinder, with which you carefully cut out the top of the metal barrel. The cut element will be useful in further work, so it is worth saving.
- Next, in order for the structure to be stable, it is necessary to mount 4 legs for it. The starting material can be a channel.
- To complete the next step, you should prepare sheet steel, the thickness of which is 5-6 millimeters. You need to cut a circle out of it, it should fit inside the barrel. To protect against damage to the walls of the device, it is advisable to level the boundaries of the product.
- You need to make a hole in the middle (diameter = 20 mm).
- Then weld the pipe to vent air to the place where combustion begins.
- Attach 4 channel sections to the opposite side so that they are distributed equally around the entire circumference.
- Now you need to take the same component that was cut off at the beginning of all the steps and make a lid from it, having first cut a 3-5 mm hole in it. And weld a strip to it on all sides. The end result should be a square-shaped product.
- A hatch should be made from below, and a metal line should be drawn along its perimeter.
- Next is the installation of a smoke exhaust pipe. It needs to be cut from the top edge by 50–100 mm.
- For convenience, all that remains is to make handles on the lid and attach the pipe.
How to properly light a wood-burning hearth oven
- The oven must be loaded with pallets.
- The chimney is always heated. This will guarantee stable traction. To do this, open the damper for 6 minutes.
- The temperature must be constantly monitored using a thermostat. It is this that will allow you to identify reliable information about the indicators.
IMPORTANT! It is prohibited to operate the stove unnecessarily for more than an hour.
