Steam generator without boiler: what does it mean?

A steam generator is a modern electrical household device designed to generate directed steam for the purpose of disinfecting and cleaning the object being processed, as well as the ability to quickly iron any type of clothing. The latest type of device is similar in function to a regular iron, only with much greater productivity. In this article we will talk about such steam generators, i.e. those designed for steaming clothes.

There are 2 main types of steam generators - with and without a boiler.

Steam generator with boiler

This type of device contains in its design a reservoir (1 or 2) for water. Models of this type are the most expensive and high-quality, allowing you to steam clothes from a wide variety of materials and cope with deep creases in linen.

The operating principle of the device is as follows. The water poured inside is heated in a special container to operating temperature. After this, it is supplied through a tube to the working surface. Here additional heating occurs, water is converted into steam and discharged through the holes in the base under pressure. This ensures optimal steam supply – it turns out dry and hot.

If the steam generator is equipped with one boiler, then refueling and heating occur within one container.If there are two containers, then water is added to one of them, and in the second it is heated. Such generators are able to reach operating mode somewhat faster than devices with a single reservoir.

Such devices do not have a built-in boiler. Instead, they are connected to an external storage tank via a hose through which water is supplied directly to the work surface. Here instant heating occurs and it turns into steam. Thanks to this principle of operation, the steam generator can get into working condition much faster from the moment it is turned on.

Advantages of a steam generator without a boiler

Firstly, it is much more compact and lighter, since it does not have a built-in reservoir with water, which has a high density, and therefore mass.

Secondly, such a device can immediately begin producing steam, immediately after being plugged into the network - it does not need to wait until the water inside the container warms up to the desired temperature. Instead, unprepared liquid is supplied from an external container to the base of the device, where it is directly heated to the desired state and steam is released under pressure.

The last and most important property – this type of device is cheaper.

Despite the fact that the quality of steam in steam generators with a boiler is considered better due to higher temperature and lower humidity, in fact the quality of ironing does not improve significantly. In any case, ironing clothes with a steam generator without a boiler is strikingly different from the results of working with a conventional iron.

If you need to iron using a regular iron - without steaming, it will be more convenient and familiar to use a steam generator without a boiler.
