Which US state banned the import and use of microwave ovens, why?

The debate about whether using microwaves is harmful to health has not subsided since these household appliances began to win the hearts of consumers en masse. The opponents and defenders of microwave ovens cite a lot of scientific (and not so scientific) arguments in favor of their point of view, citing the results of various experiments.

It is interesting that all these studies are not commented on by official representatives of Russian sanitary services and Rospotrebnadzor. There is no state ban on the sale and purchase of microwave ovens, and the decision to purchase such devices remains only with the consumer, who must, based on independently obtained information, decide whether he needs such a stove in his home and whether it is safe.

Mississippi Microwave Ban

However, not all civilized countries leave such decisions to chance. An example of this is the United States, namely the state of Mississippi, whose authorities heeded the arguments of opponents of microwave ovens and introduced a ban on their use throughout the state.

In the USA, in addition to the main legislative document of the country - the Constitution, each state has the right to issue its own laws regulating the life of its residents, if they do not contradict the US Constitution.Using this right, Mississippi authorities have banned the import, sale and use of microwave ovens throughout its territory.

This happened as a result of systematic calls from scientists at the University of Mississippi, speaking about the undoubted harm caused to health as a result of the use of microwave ovens.

The operating principle of a microwave oven is to convert electromagnetic microwave fields into thermal energy. Due to this, food heats up much faster than in the case of heating from contact with heated surfaces.

Following the conclusions of specialists from the University of Mississippi, food processed in a microwave oven acquires negative impulses that are “dissonant with universal vibrations.” After microwave exposure, food is no longer the same product it was before heating. It has damaged atomic and molecular bonds, which negatively affect human health.

Also, to prove the theory about the dangers of microwaves, local scientists cite an experiment in which a rat was placed inside this device, operating in the “grill” mode, and left for 2 hours, as a result of which it died.

According to a fierce fighter against the widespread use of microwaves, professor of the Department of Physics Research Joshua Robertson, all attempts by a group of scientist-activists to draw the attention of the country's authorities to this problem ended in its hushing up or direct threats from corporations involved in the production and sale of these household appliances.

And only the authorities of the state of Mississippi heard the warning of experts about the dangers of microwave ovens and decided to introduce a ban on them.

What happens if you disobey?

The state leadership is seriously concerned about the threats to human life and health from the use of microwave ovens. In order to emphasize the seriousness of the situation, it introduced strict penalties for violators of the ban on the use of microwave ovens. They were given real prison terms for the illegal use of devices in everyday life (5 years in prison) and for their importation into the state for sale (12 years).

There is not a single official document confirming the harmful effects of microwave radiation on processed food. On the contrary, users are drawn to the fact that such processing, carried out in accordance with all the rules, allows you to preserve a maximum of vitamins and nutrients in products.

Due to the lack of information on this topic, it is impossible to say for sure whether the above-mentioned arguments influenced the state authorities’ decision to ban microwave ovens or whether there was any other information.

If the basis for the ban was these controversial results of pseudoscientific (as in the case of the rat) experiments, we can talk about a rather strange approach by the Mississippi authorities to the adoption of laws.
